Re: New Header Pic

League, I think we should set some parameters before we get to far down the road with this. Width, height and file size should all be considered, as well as "fluidity". Since the forum appears to be set to adjust to the screen resolution of the viewer's monitor (in other words, it is "fluid"), a header with a fixed size may not be as attractive at some settings as others. The current header is 970x200, and on my laptop set to 1280x800 the header only makes it about 3/4 of the way across. I've also always considered it too tall for my taste, but perhaps others disagree. I just don't like a header that takes up nearly a third of my window's viewable area (considering the browser header and various toolbars, etc. that folks may have).

I know when I design a website that requires "fluidity", I can usually create a header that adjusts well as the width changes. I'm not an expert on vBulletin and its options for the header, but it may be possible to do the same thing here, or we may have to determine a minimum/maximum width, and also how tall it should be. By setting parameters the designers amongst us can take those into consideration when choosing images, logos, layouts, etc.

And all that Deron mentioned about copyrights is correct and should be heeded by all, as I know some folks who got hit hard by Corbis a few years ago. While there are ways around some of the watermarking and digital signatures used to protect the images, the best thing to do is to avoid using anything you do not absolutely know you have a right to use!
