Remember the thread a while back when I asked:

"During a round of golf, is it legal to do such a thing as tuck the extra cloth from one's shirt under one's armpit to act as a reminder to keep that arm close to the body, or is that considered a swing aid?"


I was just watching Playing Lessons from the Pros on TGC. The topic was "Driving" and they had about ten different players sharing their thoughts on the subject. They had Monty, Furyk, Scott McCarron, Nick Price, David Feherty, Faldo, Daly, Tom Lehman and a few other notables.

Well, they get around to Scott McCarron and he's going through his setup and he's explaining his preshot routine and as he steps up to the ball, he grabs the cloth from his left shirtsleeve and tucks it into his armpit. As he does this he explains: "I tuck my shirt into my armpit, it's just something I do to keep my arm and body working as a unit". He then goes on to explain a couple more things he does and then he hits a shot.

This was not a drill or any sort of practice tip. This entire show dealt with what each of these players do with respect to driving a golf ball during tournament play; their thought processes, setups, swing thoughts, swing keys, etc..

So I guess that settles it. If a Tour pro says it's part of his preshot routine to tuck his sleeve into his armpit to serve as a reminder, then it must be OK to do so.
