Re: Relief and the Divot.
I loved Ernie Els' comment a few years back when he won the Johnnie Walker Classic in Australia. In the last round on the 18th he hit his ball into a deepish divot. His only comment - " somebody told me I was in Nick Faldo's divot. I thought I was longer than Nick!"
In the US Open in '92 on the last hole he also pulled his tee shot way over onto another fairway. Pitched back to 18 into a divot - what did he do? He got up and down.
Yesterday in the Honda Classic he was in a divot but sitting nicely (once again th last hole) with quite a twitchy short iron in - not a word, not a grimace - just hit the ball to the fat part.
That's what the top guys do.
