So if you had to do what would you get?

You're sending mixed messages here.

Do you want a bag to walk with or do you want a cart bag?

A staff bag is not a walking bag. I know that they're much lighter today than they used to be years ago when they were all made of leather, but they're just too big to use as a"carry bag". Believe it or not, I used to walk once in a while with a staff bag (leather) a long time ago, but that doesn't really work very well just from a sheer-size point of view. A decent staff bag has a 10-inch top and more pockets than a shoplifter's jacket making them quite bulky. And human nature will have you putting whatever you can think of into those pockets (whether you need to or not) and you'll end up lugging 40 to 50 lbs. of junk before you know it.

A typical stand bag, when empty, weighs about as much as a couple of pairs of socks, and even with as many pockets as most of them have now, there's just not enough room for so much junk that would create any significant weight issues.

Staff bags are cool, but unless you use a caddy or a cart on a regular basis, I wouldn't bother with one; they're just too klutzy. They DO have a ton of room for your clubs, but also for a lot of other things and all that storage will ultimately produce a bag that's way too heavy to carry on a daily basis.

If you're really into walking and carrying, put your ego on hold and go with the stand bag. Your back, your legs, your shoulders and ultimately your game will thank you for it.

Here's mine:

And this one's only $129.99 at Golfsmith
