So if there were a rule about proper attire must be worn by competitors on tour, that should be thrown out, too? No rules should be enforced, or even in place, unless it has the sole purpose of stopping a person from gaining an unfair advantage?
We should have a rule that all players must play with the same ball, because NOT having that rule gives some players an advantage of playing a better ball, right?

And of course, the same clubs...etc. But now we're creating MORE rules to make things fair.
