Couple of tips for future reference. 1st is a biggie -- dry fit everything. This will help you anticipate any snags, like a ferrule that is too snug. You can sand, or rough up, the interior of the ferrule which helps with adhesion and will increase its diameter slightly to fit better on the shaft. 2nd, also a biggie -- when in doubt use heat. If you simply zap the ferrule for a bit with a hair dryer or heat gun, they are much more pliable and will behave themselves. Heat is used when removing ferrules, saving ferrules and installing ferrules when they are snug. It only takes a few repetitions to get your skills honed enough where you can avoid little headaches like this.
