Taylormade Burner HT

I purchased the Burner HT last week with the stock 50g OEM Reax in R flex. Used it for the first time Thursday evening, and again for 18 holes over the weekend.

Aesthetics: Some say it looks ugly, but I like it way it looks. It isn't "boxy" but has a more aerodynamic shape. The crown is a little busy, but not distracting.

Performance: I chose the HT model in an attempt to reduce the inconsistent flight patterns I was having with the driver. I figured the increased loft would help establish a straighter ball flight, counteracting some of the draw/fade spins I was putting on the driver. I was willing to give up a few yards of distance.

I used it for the first time Thursday evening in my 9 hole league. The very first shot went miles high, and about 230 yards down the middle. During that round I hit 5 of 6 fairways. Over the weekend I played 18 holes and was able to lower the ball flight a bit - still high though. The smoother and slower I swung, the better the drive. I think I averaged about 10-15 yards longer than my old trusty 580XD, and was able to control the ball MUCH better. I hit more fairways than normal, and felt very confident addressing the ball.

BTW - it got better looking with every fairway I hit.

So far it seems to be a "keeper." I don't change drivers very often - the 580XD was in the bag for 4+ years - I'm hoping this Burner stays at least as long.
