The Rockies are not even a comparative analogy. They played various teams and had to go through a playoff to reach the world series.
The likes of Hawaii or Boise St. have the option of scheduling teams that would behoove their teams ability in their non conference schedules. Perhaps Hawaii should go independent like a Notre Dame to earn respect and try to set up games with USC, Alabama, LSU, Ohio St. Oklahoma, Texas or many other teams that could help their status. When you have no real comparative history and you play only one ranked team that wasn't respected highly either, it doesn't help the case much.
