That was easier than I thought it would be. I'd be up for a playoff tournament with this group. I listed 17 in case Dixon is ready in which case they'd replace Clemson.
While I appreciate the thought, Waz, I just don't see the point of having all those teams, who, while many are playing well now just haven't been consistently good, in a playoff when they had 11-12 games to prove they should be top 8 teams. I understand that the cream should rise regardless, but Clemson had many opportunities to be better than 9-3, they just didn't get it done in the regular season. They get a decent bowl game and a big fat check... good enough. Some teams have played their way in (Georgia, Va. Tech), some got lucky to not have to play any more games (Ohio St.) and others earned it through overall body of work (Mizzou, W.Virginia). One could argue for an undefeated Hawaii to get a bone thrown to them, and I'd go along with that... but the Floridas, Boston Colleges and Illinois' had opportunities early and squandered them... thanks for playing, we have nice parting gifts for you type of thing...
I'd have no problem with your top 6 or 8 having a playoff... I'd even be willing to put my pride aside and take Hawaii over LSU...
