In a very big area of sand, there are some excelelnt golf courses.

Emirates GC - severe test of anyone's game
Dubai Racing and golf club - good course in amongst the racetrack ,with floodlights ,so you can play until midnight and then head to the airport.
Dubai Creek

Also good courses up the road in Abu Dhabi
