Surabaya, Indonesia golf trip

So due to volcanic activity (and no it wasn't me after missing a gimmie) we are going here instead...

Again, spa and shopping for the wife and golf for me at the following courses:

http://www.finnagolf.com/
http://www.ciputragolf.com/index.htm

Hopefully no volcanoes nearby! Will post reviews for anyone who might make it to this part of the world...it seems that the courses around Surabaya are held in pretty high esteem so I am going with raised expectations...a week playing golf and not working, can't find too much to complain about...

Well, my vacation started today...first day was a trip to the baby doctor for a sonogram (everything looks good!) then to a course next to the doc's office that I hadn't played before...beautiful course, will be taking more of my money in the near future...tomorrow I'll play my club as a tune up then an afternoon flight to Surabaya...I'm only one day in and I'm smiling already!

From what I remember Surabaya is a great place, I worked on the construction of a paper mill in Mojokerto and stayed in Surabaya. The last link you had looks a lot like the place that all the engineers stayed at but it seems that it was a Hyatt Regency resort memory is fading fast it has been over 10 years now.

Enjoy your vacation

Re: Surabaya, Indonesia golf trip

Friends just came back from Finna on Surabaya. These are Brit expats now living in Malaysia and have played all over the world. They said this was a very, very upscale property with great golf (condition ad course quality) along with outstanding accomodations. For your info.

Re: Surabaya, Indonesia golf trip

I wanted to go to Finna Golf when I took my trip to Surabaya…in fact, originally it was the main course that I was going to center the trip around…supposed to be fantastic…but there was a mudslide that blocked the road when we were there and as it is up in the mountains, apparently there was no way of passing…and when I say mudslide, what I really mean is that hot mud was bubbling out of the ground (Indonesia sits on the Ring of Fire…a massive fault that runs under the islands and gets plenty of geothermic activity) to the point that it was a hot, mud river that flowed for a couple of months…anyhow, didn’t make it, maybe next time though I’ve got Mt. Merapi outside of Jogjakarta near Borobudur Temple, Bintaan Island and Irian Jaya on the list in front of it…I should get some time for a golf vacation when the girls go to University in about 18 years….
