Re: Refinishing clubs
Hmmm, not sure what's happening there. I think most people use the Testors model enamel paint and have heard it works great. So maybe it's the type of paint your using. Did you wash the putter to make sure there's no grease or oil or anything else that might not allow it to bond...just a thought.

Re: Refinishing clubs
Pick it up, good point, I've never seen or heard of anyone trying to paint the whole putter. I was thinking 300 was just looking to do the paint fill. Most would send it somewhere to have it redone. Someplace like Putter Plating or Black Oxide Services both do nice work.

Like some others before me, I also doubt that painting a putterhead is a good idea. |

Re: Refinishing clubs
no, I'm not painting the face, it's white, and I'm going to paint the rest candy blue, if I can get it to stick. I have made sure the club is clean, as I have soaked it, and sanded it. I'm not just doing putters, I'm also doing a few old driver heads, because they are looking a little gawdy.
SS: The amount of roughness, shouldn't matter. The putter head is very soft..so I think the material is probably aluminum or something..I paint a lot of things, including models, and I have a lot of metal work experience, so this is well within my abilities. I've never had problems before..but I think I have found the problem: The paint is probably just too cold, I'm going to warm it up, and see what happens. I probably should send it to someone, but I like to do things myself, and I have nothing else to do now...so I guess I'm doing it for fun really. Last edited by 300Yards : 02-17-2007 at 07:07 PM. |

Re: Refinishing clubs
I got the paint to stick today. I got it warm, and it was real thick, and it stuck nicely. Putter looks awesome, if my camera was working, I would post a pic. Thanks everyone for your help! Now, I just gotta test it.
