Don't use steel wool, regardless of how fine. Chances are it'll scratch away the chrome, and leave the face open to rusting. A soft nylon bristled brush and warm soapy water should suffice.

If your really worried about that, try some rubbing compound or polishing compound and a buffer. That will take care of them until you hit your next shot.

The only way to remove scratches in metal (chrome) is to remove more metal. Only other thing you can do is send them away and have them re-chromed, but like pick it up said, as soon as you hit a ball with them there are going to be more scratches.
