My First Putter Paintfill

The cold weather was really gettin' to me so I went to a hobby shop and picked up some paints.

It was kinda fun and doesn't look too bad- IMO.

It actually looked pretty sweet w/ no paint. I might actually leave it at that....when I get bored again.

Nice, I take all of the paint out of my clubs.

Nice! Even your Maranello?

I thought of doing that w/ my snakeyes irons but I don't think the paint is removable. Seems like it's baked on or something.

Yup, removed the white lines on top as well.

Paintfill looks good. Any meaning behind the colors?

Nope. Just thought they'd look cool.

Kind of like the CS' sublime lime and peel out purple.

Re: My First Putter Paintfill

Looks great, pick-it-up. I'm almost tempted to try doing something with my putter, and maybe irons too.

Hey Pickitup, I think the thing looks pretty good!

Maybe you could fill us in on what type of paint you used, and what you used to apply it for those who may want to try. The colors are a great choice IMO!

Re: My First Putter Paintfill

Thanks guys.

I went to a hobby shop and got a dozen or so paints. They had literally hundreds to choose from.

The two colors I used here were "Troll Green" and "Purple" (enamels). OH, and gloss black for the sight line. I didn't really want to look down at a crazy colored-sight line.

I bought some 30g syringes/needles at hocks.com. I filled them by dipping a toothpick in the paint and then letting it drip down into they syringe.

Then I just colored in the letters and stuff with the needle, one drop at a time.

I did one color at a time. I let it dry and then light rubbed over the area with a paper towel dipped in nail polish remover. This cleans up any excess...'cause there will be excess outside of the lines, no matter how careful you are. I also carefully cleaned up any overpaint w/ a toothpick before even letting the paint settle.

It basically took me four days because I let each color dry and I only did one area at a time so I could let each side dry flat.

Just remember, if you mess up, it's no big deal because you can always remove the paint and start over.

In terms of removing the paintfill, I bought some dried paint remover from the hobby shop and dabbed each area of paint with a Q-tip. I let it sit for a few minutes and then removed the paint with Q-tip, paper towels and tooth picks.

Nice! It looks really good. I really like the color choices too. I'm not sure I would have had the guts through to do that to a Cameron. You obviously did.

Thanks...and thanks, capitan!

It doesn't take guts really. Because, like I said, if you mess up, you can always just remove the paint and try again.

Re: My First Putter Paintfill

Fantastic job and I love the colors but then again why wouldn't I. If you ever need a job doing inlay work call me as i think doing the inlay is what sets the clubs off much like a frame around a picture.

Very cool. It's interesting to see how you marry two thing that you obviously enjoy, art and golf. How long to you think that would stay on the club before it peels or rubs off?

It's enamel paint so it should stay on for a while. Maybe forever?
