Titleist 904 bore thru shows twist...

I had a terrible lie today, (above my feet), and grounded my 904F a little hard just behind the ball. Later on, since the 904 has a bore thru shaft, I could tell that the club had twisted on the shaft just a little. It was obvious because the shaft is cut at an angle, and it was no longer flush with the bottom of the club. I was able to twist the club back though, and it is in position and flush again.

My question is "should I be concerned about this?", and if so what are my options. I have the YS-6 graphite shaft and don't really want to spend the money to have it replaced....is it possible to pull the shaft and reset it....and /or again do I even need to worry about it. (It took all my strength to twist it back into place).

If it's moved, that means the epoxy bond has been broken. You should most definitely get it pulled/reset.

Bottom line is the head is loose, and you need to have it repaired. The shaft should be pulled and re-installed with new epoxy. If you don't have it fixed, there's a good chance the shaft will break off at the hosel, and then you will be spending a lot more money to have a new shaft installed.

I would get to your local golf shop and get the head/shaft re-bonded,dont imagine it will cost much.

MIght cost around $25. That's pretty much standard to pull a shaft an install a new one, so it should be about the same to re-install the old shaft. Or it might be free if you contact Titleist and have it done under warranty.

Re: Titleist 904 bore thru shows twist...

Thanks for the all the comments.....took it back to Golf Galaxy, (not intended to be a "plug"), and they will pull and "re-epoxy" at no-charge....it was a used club, I had bought it from them about six months ago, and had them put in a new shaft.

I think this is an example of "good" customer service, and will bring me back to their store.

I'm not sure what this says about Golf Galaxy. It's good they will fix it for free, that's a plus. But the fact the shaft came loose, it not so good, that's a minus. Let's hope they get it right this time and you have no more problems in the future.

Defintely needs to be repaired immediately...good thing is it should take them 10 minutes of work and an over night cure to get it done right.

Don't be to hard on them...this happens....even on tour level.
