Question regarding driver loft

Hope this Q has not been asked to often:

After some troubles early 2007 with a serous bout of shanks - I visited a pro for the first time in 20 years - who told me that basically my grip was completely wrong and that changing that would be the only remedy.
Changing grip meant rebuilding the complete swing - which has turned out to be the best what could have happened. I have reached scores where I was not before - I started the year at -17,8 and finished at -14.4 - bearing in mind that in Germany you can only really improve your handicap if you partake in tournaments - and I only managed to play 3 - and managed to berak 80 in South Adfrica this winter for the first time.

The change of the swing led to a higher swing speed but also to that I have much more trajectory than before.

I feel that on the driver I loose distance because I go high up - even teeing up the ball low - I will still have a lot of height.

I use a Cleveland 460 TI Comp and had the shaft replaced last year to a Fujikara pro series - which is substantially stiffer than the old shaft.

I have a 10,5 loft and my Q is whether changing to a 9,5 would help solve the issue ?

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Thomas

Re: Question regarding driver loft

Impossible to say without knowing your current launch angle. I don't know what Fujikara shaft you have, or what the bend point of it is. A higher bend point shaft would lower your ball flight some, but without knowing your current launch angle. I have no way of knowing if this would be good or bad. Keep in mind a simple fact. The vast majority of golfers THINK their ball flight is too high, when in fact IT'S TOO LOW. I see this all the time and if you get your ball flight measured on a launcher, you'll know the FACTS. Bottom line, Get on a launch monitor and get the numbers and see. Let me know what you find out in terms of launch angle, back spin and ball speed.

Re: Question regarding driver loft

A lot more information would be needed to assist you in accessing your current driver set up.

We'd need to know things like swing speed, ball speed, initial spin numbers..where your misses are...

I can tell you one thing though...which is almost everyone who's been playing golf for over ten years and complains that their ball flight is too hig, is almost always incorrect.

Years ago, with the high spin balls, low lofted drivers were the norm...but now we know that for someone with significant swing speed, a low spin ball with an initial higher trajectory is usually the preferred method
