Hammetweil GC - SW Germany

Since I asked for this section of the VBB - course reviews - I will start with my home course:
GC Hammetweil

The club opened in the summer of 2005 following about 15 years of dicussion on the pro and cons of having it - quite common for densely populated areas here in Germany.

It is about 35 Km south of Stuttgart - on the road to T?bingen - about a further 10 Km away - one of the oldest university towns in Germany - the university was established 1477.

The course statistics are as follows: Gents: 6023 m 6587 yds Slope 125 CR 72.4 and Ladies: 5130 m 5610 yds Slope 124 CR 71.9


The front 9 has water coming into play on a couple of holes including the 154 m par 3 5th hole that is an island green. The back nine goes in and out of the woods. Overall a bit hilly on the slopes fown to the river Neckar valley.

As said this will only the thrid year in operation - hence the rough is in fact very rough at spots - the clubhouse is a couple of containers as of now - the real one is WIP - work in progress and should open up later this year.

We have a driving range with a couple of covered stalls, putting green and both chipping and pitching practice areas.
