Re: Taylormade Burner

Good club, very forgiving and you can still work the ball off the tee. I have the Burner TP with the Grafalloy Epic shaft as my back up.

Re: Taylormade Burner

It doesn't look as bad in person as it does in the stock photos, they enhance the contrast a bit to make it stand out in the publicity pictures. But it isn't pretty to look at.

Re: Taylormade Burner

I've heard the burner was pretty hot off the face from a couple of guys at the local shop. You guys think it's got a little extra pop?

Re: Taylormade Burner

I know it does, about three miles per hour ball speed over my SuperQuad, just a little harder to control for me that's why the SuperQuad is still in the bag full time. Burner will definitely be in their for outings as the bomber club. May go to the Mickelson set up and lose the 60*, almost never use it anyway.

Re: Taylormade Burner

I had it bent to 1.5* open, I think they are said to be 1* open but with a margin for error of +/- 1*

Re: Taylormade Burner

Bought my new Burner today....spent an hour at the range after and am in LUV with it!!! Got the 10.5 regular shaft....paid $249 at Costco.

I liked the driver so much I stopped at a golf shop and bought the Burner 3 wood. They don't sell them at Costco, but the guy discounted it from $199 to $179.

Can't wait to take them "dancing" on the course tomorrow!!!

Re: Taylormade Burner

Just got my new burner. It has 10.5 degree loft and it has the stock fujikura reax 50 gram shaft.

My first impressions: It's long. Hit my longest drives ever on the par fives at my course yesterday. Was on in two on the second short par 5, I hit a five iron into the green where I'm usually hitting 5 wood. The ball seems to just explode off the club face. When my swing is off I tend to hook and I did hit a couple of major hooks yesterday, but I still was able to recover, shot a season low of 77 with it.

Taylormade Burner HT

I purchased the Burner HT last week with the stock 50g OEM Reax in R flex. Used it for the first time Thursday evening, and again for 18 holes over the weekend.

Aesthetics: Some say it looks ugly, but I like it way it looks. It isn't "boxy" but has a more aerodynamic shape. The crown is a little busy, but not distracting.

Performance: I chose the HT model in an attempt to reduce the inconsistent flight patterns I was having with the driver. I figured the increased loft would help establish a straighter ball flight, counteracting some of the draw/fade spins I was putting on the driver. I was willing to give up a few yards of distance.

I used it for the first time Thursday evening in my 9 hole league. The very first shot went miles high, and about 230 yards down the middle. During that round I hit 5 of 6 fairways. Over the weekend I played 18 holes and was able to lower the ball flight a bit - still high though. The smoother and slower I swung, the better the drive. I think I averaged about 10-15 yards longer than my old trusty 580XD, and was able to control the ball MUCH better. I hit more fairways than normal, and felt very confident addressing the ball.

BTW - it got better looking with every fairway I hit.

So far it seems to be a "keeper." I don't change drivers very often - the 580XD was in the bag for 4+ years - I'm hoping this Burner stays at least as long.

Re: Taylormade Burner

This club is by far my favorite in the bag. I've played my best golf in my career this season and partly I attribute to my added distance; and that is because of the purchase of the Burner. I can shape my shots when needed, and the one thing I love about it that I can hit it off the deck with ease. I will not look at a new driver for quite some time.

Re: Taylormade Burner

.

It's an interesting club and it IS easy to hit. I tried one at the range last week, (a guy I know there had one) and I found the ball flight to be too high for my liking and with the stock shaft, it felt somewhat "loose" when I really got on it. I hit about five or six shots with it and then hit several with my driver and I have to say that I like mine better.

I think that the Burner will definitely appeal to a lot of people, I'm just not one of them.

To each his own.

Re: Taylormade Burner

I hit a Burner for the first time today at the range. The guy next to me saw me hitting my OLD TM 200 Steel driver and offered to let me hit his driver. I was swinging a 9.5 degree and his was a 10.5 degree, so the ball flight was MUCH higher than what I'm used to, but I was airmailing my previous drives. Of course, I wasn't getting much roll with his, where mine was getting pretty good roll, so I might have only gained about 10 yards (if that) with the Burner. Now if I had a 9.5 degree Burner, I'd be interested to see what would happen.

I really liked the feel of the club, though. The ball just seemed to jump off the face and I was pretty darn accurate with it. If my situation were different, I might buy one, but I can't be spending money on expensive new drivers right now.

Re: Taylormade Burner

My previous review was written with only 27 holes played with it. Now, after a bunch more rounds I am convinced that this driver is the best I've played with - ever. There may be others just as good, but I can't try every driver out there.

The ball continues to draw a bit, but if I aim down the right side of the fairway, or right rough, it usually finds the short grass. Distance is great for me, averaging about 235-245 on normal hits, and maybe a tad more when I slow down and let the shaft do the work! Ball flight is high, but that is what I want (reason I bought the HT model). Feedback is true - when I hit it good I don't even have to look up, I can just start walking down the fairway.

I got the HT model, with regular flex graphite. Some of the guys I play with have tried it and find the shaft too whippy for them. These guys are younger than I am, and their swing speeds and temp are much faster than mine. They hit it a mile but usually push/slice it or yank it way left.

Golfers looking for an easy-to-hit driver should give this a demo.

However, by the time you read this, TM will probably have come out with a newer, improved driver du jour!
