Re: Infiniti KO 460 Driver

I demo'd the KO 460 recently. It was 10.5* loft mated to a Graffalloy Epic 68S (stiff) shaft.

First impression upon removing from the box - a good looking club, but the boxing glove head cover seemed a little "cheesy". I guess it's clever, but sitting on the club in the bag, looked out of place.

As for the club's performance, it's got the power and distance it claims, maybe more. It makes a nice, solid sound at impact, not your typical "PANG!" that comes with many 460 large-faced drivers. You do have to have a decent swing, I believe, to get the most out of this club. I can't see anyone struggling with swing flaws being happy hitting this club. You don't have to hit it perfectly, but off-center hits or bad swings will be evident - at least they were for me. Also, I have a feeling this is a club suited to the player with better than average "smash factor".

I wish I'd tried this club a month earlier. Just prior to receiving this driver I had purchased a draw-biased MacTec NVG, and had taken time to learn to hit it with confidence. So when the KO arrived, it took several hits to find the right tee height, ball placement, etc. and begin to get the full potential out of this club. Once I found the right setup, I was hitting it quite well, easily reaching my usual 270-280 distance with a straight ball flight or small fade, carrying 250 or more.

I'm not sure if it is the shaft (which I suspect it is) or the overall combo of loft and shaft, bit I felt like I wasn't getting quite enough height out of my drives to realize max distance. Of course, this club was a demo, not built to my specs, so I can't expect perfection.

Anyone looking for a solid, high-quality driver that performs as well as or better than anything else out there needs to try the Infiniti KO before making a purchase.

It's the shaft that interests me...I think I have to get my hands on an Epic...

Yeah, I wish I had a way to provide more info on the shaft performance, but without a similar head with a different shaft, I can't provide any specifics. Can't claim to be that sophistaicated with my swing to feel all the nuances without something to compare it to directly.
