Will the new Callaway FT-i & Nike Sumo make it?

Will the new Callaway FT-i & Nike Sumo make it?

Or will it be a bust and sell for $299.99 and $199.99 in 6 months.

I think the club *** will line up to buy it just to have it in there bags.

Re: Will the new Callaway FT-i & Nike Sumo make it?

Not if my money matters.

I honestly wouldn't put either one in my bag if they were given to me free.

And I'm not a Cally or Nike hater, just think those clubs are ugly.

I wouldn't play them either..we already know that the Sumo 2, is a bust...but the Cally is OK.

Re: Will the new Callaway FT-i & Nike Sumo make it?

I don't know if they will go down in price in just 6 months, they don't introduce drivers as often as TaylorMade so it probably won't drop as quick. Personally, I'm not gonna get the Sumo2 ever, but maybe sometime I'll check out the regular Sumo.

Re: Will the new Callaway FT-i & Nike Sumo make it?

I'd say they won't be as successful as they want them to be. I certainly would not put either one in my bag, and if I was in the market (and those two where Nike & Callaway's only offerings), I'd go to one of their competitors.

Re: Will the new Callaway FT-i & Nike Sumo make it?

Who knows how many people will just go out and buy one because it's the next thing. I think that's one thing a lot of us on here aren't taking into consideration. I know many people that have to have the latest and greatest (whether it be cars, golf equipment, etc.) so it might do well in sales. Only time will tell though.

Exactly. Anyone looking for the latest and greatest fix for their game will turn towards these, because of the hype around maximizing MOI through alternate geometry. I'm predicting that they will sell well, but there'll be almost as many going up on eBay and other preowned club selling sites as there are flying off the shelves as people realize they aren't the magic repair-all to the game that they've been made out to be.

Unless Nike somehow gets tiger playing the sumo2 than I think it's going to bust... Maybe not in 6 months though

I think the club ho’s will line up to buy it just to have it in there bags.

Not this ho! I would rather see a pro than buy one of those ridiculous looking things. I can't see the square drivers sales being very strong. Just another fad that I wouldn't .

Re: Will the new Callaway FT-i & Nike Sumo make it?

Wow, interesting reading!

Everyone has their opinion, so I'll express mine.....

I've got 36 holes in with my SUMO2 and wouldn't trade it for the WORLD! Getting used to the "look" took about 15 minutes on the range, now it's a non issue. As far as "will it make it or not", my thinking is that most people who take it out for a full 18 or 36 holes will give it nothing but positive remarks.

I'm sure there are going to be a LOT of comments about this new club. I can honestly say that I LOVE mine and wouldn't trade it in for the world!

I've got 36 holes in with mine, so it might be just a "tad" bit harsh to knock it if someone doen't get a chance to take it for a REAL demo....out on the course.

As far as being "loud" and "ugly".....hey, as long as it WORKS it doesn't bother me....

....after all, you ain't seen my wife!!!

After seeing people's reactions after Sumo Saturday, I can confidentally say that this will be a very big product for us, and people are going to love it!

Re: Will the new Callaway FT-i & Nike Sumo make it?

I think it is far too early to make any assertion that the SuMo2 is a flop, it has been out for three days. As far as the geometry driven drivers, they will take a while to catch on, most players that I have seen will make a switch if it is a product that will help them play better. Titleist/Cobra as well as Taylor Made have some sort of geometry based drivers coming out soon, not as dramatic as the square shapes, but still with the limits on the CT, MOI, and head size, there are not many options for club designers.

I saw this driver for the first time Friday and the thoughts were going thru my head to buy it. It had a UST Proforce V2 shaft in it.

My wife would kill me!

I know I am a club ho

Re: Will the new Callaway FT-i & Nike Sumo make it?

I was talking to a pro who has tried it out and he told me both were dead straight. The only problem is working the ball. I prefer to work the ball so I'm probably going to go with the 905r cause I can work it well.

Re: Will the new Callaway FT-i & Nike Sumo make it?

Check out the 907 D2, at least the 905R should come down in price when that one comes out.

Thats exactly why I want to stick with the 905r. I know if I try something else I'll just end up wanting something new.

At least wait for it to come out, then the 905 R should drop even more than it has.
