Talking LUV my SUMO2 !!!

What I REALLY like about the square head is that it is SO easy to aim! Beacause of the square head you align it towards a target in the fairway just like you would a putter!

Yesterday the course was really empty....something 'bout a football game or something?....so when I got to the 16th hole I hit 6 balls of the tee. It's a wide open par 5 so I experimented and picked different targets down the fairway to practice my alignment. With the exception of one really BAD swing that was my fault, the other 5 balls went where I aimed! No draws of fades, just straight as an arrow. It was just like throwing DARTS down the faiway! Imagine, not just hitting the fairway, but hitting a certain SPOT on the fairway to set up your next shot!!!

Hey, maybe they will come out with a square WEDGE....it would do wonders for my short game!!!

Re: LUV my SUMO2 !!!

A square wedge? That's just insain I think marketing companies are going a little too far in game improvement and I think that people should just learn the game the right way. Soon people are gonna be able to shoot par and think nothing of it.

I highly doubt it, there are many more aspects to the game than just hitting a drive down the middle of the fairway.

Hopefully for you the honeymoon period lasts...sounds like the club is doing exactly what it was designed for, straighten shots out.

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT??? are you kidding me ??? The sumo and sumo2 are way better and for many reasons....the first is the MOI....That is the new technology behind these clubs ....

SUMO2 MOI = 5292
SUMO MOI= 4950
Callaway FT-I MOI = 4928
Callway FT-5 MOI = 4711

So going by MOI numbers the Nike is far better, but that is not getting into the new power bow and face technology that nike has

Re: LUV my SUMO2 !!!

Haha, I just got info from people who have hit them thats all. I'm not a huge stats guy when it comes to the game I rely alot on feel. Although my swing is more on the technical side. If I feel the FT-I is better with the same shaft combination as the Sumo2, I would go with it and vice versa

Re: LUV my SUMO2 !!!

I liked the sound of the FT-I more than the SuMo2, the longer shaft was a bit of an annoyance for me, especially since I play a 44.5" driver.

You are getting some more info here. Like NikeRep said, MOI is higher with the Nike VS. Callaway, also the Power Bow Technology. Shaft options with the FT-i are limited to the Speeder and anything else will be an upgrade in price. With the Sumo2, there are 3 other stock shafts with no upcharge, along with other shaft options with a charge. I've hit them both. I noticed better results with the Sumo2 versus the FT-i.... I've heard from some that say they get way too much spin off the driver and I believe it after I hit it. The FT-i is a good driver, but the Sumo2 has it beat.

Re: LUV my SUMO2 !!!

I guess I won't know until I hit it. Looks though, I like the FT-I, the powerbow looks terrible to me.

Boy, it's a big 'ol rascal . . . all pumped up and ready to go.

My course had a whole barrel full of them this morning. They must be expecting a lot of sales to have that much inventory.

Re: LUV my SUMO2 !!!

Anybody read the CEO of Taylor Mades' comments about the Sumo2 in todays USA Today?

Square drivers didn't go on sale to the public until last weekend, but Mark King, the CEO of TaylorMade Adidas Golf, was predicting the demise of the design well before Nike's Sumo Saturday.

"The square-headed driver phenomenon will be over in about 90 days," King told Golfweek magazine.

The article also mentions this:

The initial response to Nike's new drivers on Saturday was strong. The company reports people standing in line to test it in Fort Wayne, Ind., where the temperature was below freezing....

Gee, anyone here on the boards able to confirm that?

And NikePerson, what do you think about Mr. Kings' comments? Wow....

Re: LUV my SUMO2 !!!

So WHAT is the story between Nike and Taylor Made right now? Inquiring minds want to know....

I don't know that I've seen one OEMs' CEO dog another OEM flagship product in public before - kinda surprised me, but I've only been paying attention to golf for a couple years now and this kind of stuff could've happened before.

There is a lot of stuff going on, some which I can say and some I can't. But basically Taylor Made is mad they didn't come up with a square driver, and us and Callaway did, so they are dogging us and are sticking with their "weight changing" theory...They are saying that we dont have "face technology" and all this other garbage. They are doing many un ethical things that can't be discussed...It is getting rediculous

Re: LUV my SUMO2 !!!

Well, the OEM golf market is huge, a lot of dollars (and yen, and pounds, and euros and who knows what else) at stake. Sounds like the gloves are coming off a bit?
