Snake Eyes Wedges

Due to my budget I am forced to get some low cost wedges. I can get a a snake eyes wedge head, golf pride tour velvet grip, and true temper dynamic gold shaft for around $55 custom fitted. In my opinion this would be the best wedge for the price but I am not sure. Opinions on other cheap wedges would be helpful too. Which wedge though ??????? How would these compare in feel and spin to the NIKE SV Tour, TaylorMade rac Black, and the Titleist Vokey Spin Milled?

I am not that big of a fan of components but do to their cheap prices and good reviews I thought I will try them but if I don't like them i'm stuck with them. I am also going to get a set of Snake Eyes 600B/C Irons. Snake Eyes is the only component I would use but only their irons and wedges and that's only because of my budget.

Re: Snake Eyes Wedges

i had a snake eye gap wedge a little over 2 years ago, i didnt like it, it felt way to light for me...the look and price is what made me buy it. think it was 25.99 with a rifle spinner shaft brand new.. they look nice but are too light for a wedge imo

im also very tempted to try the nike sv tour wedges...you can get a set of three brand new on ebay for cheap. real cheap...like under 170

Re: Snake Eyes Wedges

if you are looking at component heads, go to www.golfworks.com those clubs are designed by Ralph Maltby who is one of the most respected club designers in the industry. They just released their 07 line-up so some of the 06 models are on sale.

Re: Snake Eyes Wedges

There is nothing wrong with Snake Eyes wedges and they are very comparable to the higher end OEM clubs. The only reason the others are so much higher is that they need the extra $$ to pay tour players and advertsing whereas Golfsmith, does not. The R/D staff at Golfsmith has many years of experience behind them.

Re: Snake Eyes Wedges

I had a Snake Eyes wedge a few years ago and hated it.

I ended up giving it to a friend and he loves it.

So.........................

Re: Snake Eyes Wedges

Check out golfgalaxy.com, they have Maltby forged wedges for $49.99 a piece, which is a great price for a forged club.

Re: Snake Eyes Wedges

I've heard some good things about the SMT Durometer wedges... might want to give those a look. Pretty fair price, too.

Re: Snake Eyes Wedges

I'm not a big fan of the SMT or maltby so I guess the only other thing within those prices are the Ben Hogan Riviera but i'm not sure about the shafts cause I like TT Dynamic Gold and these are lightweight shafts.

I play the Riviera as my SW with the Apex shafts. My previous had the TT S300 and honestly, I really do not notice a difference. The Riviera is a good wedge, as well.
