New golf tee

Well everyone I posted in the Tour Chatter thread about the new golf tee that some of the Senior Pros were using this past weekend at the Regions Classic in Birmingham, Al. I ordered the tees Monday and received the package today I hope to get to play this weekend and try out the new tee. It looks a bit strange the pros that were talking about the tee this past weekend said they could not tell there was a lot of difference in yardage but did say that they seemed to hit the ball straighter may be all in their head who knows but just thought it may be worth a try. I let all you know how they play if I get the chance to go this weekend, have any of you out there see these tees? Below is a link to the site were I got mine they have lengths from 1 3/4 inch to what the call the extreme 4 inch. I ordered the 2 3/4" that is the length of regular tee I use with my driver TM 580XD this seems length to work for me.

Re: New golf tee

It could happen!

I've used a variety of those zero friction, extra tall, etc. things for a while. Why not grasp for another straw?

Re: New golf tee

Well for what ever it is worth I have used the new tees that I posted about twice now during my game last Sunday and my game today. As far as gaining additional yards can't say they the tees help I think my gain in additional yards has come from my strength work out program. The real advantage I see with these tees are that they are almost indestructible I played now twice using the same tee. Second and most important I think is that you tee the ball up the same height each time you place the tee in the ground, that I think if there is any added yards is where that would come from. So from overall stand point I am very happy with these tees.

Re: New golf tee

I'm with you on the indestructible aspect, and consistent height. We're in a drought right now and the tee boxes very hard. I ran out of the Zero Friction tees (lost, mostly) and break a wooden tee on every single tee shot.

Re: New golf tee

I forgot to mention...last summer I bought a package of 3 plastic, spring-loaded tees but can't remember the name. They have the little soft plastic prongs at the top to hold up the ball and reduce friction. And, they are nearly indestructible. The top bends over but does not break when struck.

Re: New golf tee

I've never bought into the tee gimmicks. I just can't see how a tee is going to add yardage to drives. Even with my driver, I tee the ball up higher or lower depending on wind and what shot I want to hit. If someone finds benefit from these new fangled tees, more power to em.

Re: New golf tee

Having used some of those new technology tees to hit my longest drives ever. I'll never go back to wooden tees with my driver. Tests have shown a gain in up to 37 yards with the longer high tech tees, so it's up to you if you want to believe the test results. I've used them, and I like them, End of story on my end.

Do you buy the ones that match your Q-link pendant?

Same thing with these dudes:

I bought a 50 pack 6 months ago, and I still have plenty of them. No idea how many, exactly, but lots. I forget to pick them out of the ground more than I break them. I regularly play 18 holes with the same tee, and back in the bag it goes. I've actually thought about clearing out the tee pocket in my back and just leaving like 5 of them in there to save a touch of weight. And the cool thing is, they cost just the same as reg'lar wooden tees.

Re: New golf tee

mr3856a I use those also got hooked on them about 1 1/2 ago friend I was playing with gave me one to try and that was it I was hooked I can play 18 holes with the same tee. The ones I just bought I like for the fact that there is a ring that stops the tee from going to deep in the ground. I like them both enough that I no longer use regular wooded tees. As far as distance I have not bought into the big distance factor on the new tees I posted about but I do like the constancy of teeing the ball the same height every time.

Re: New golf tee

The zero-friction tees are also supposed to be made from a biodegradable plastic. I've been using them awhile, and have gone through about 2/3 of a pack. A lot of those have gone to friends and my son, and I've also broken quite a few, but only after using them for several tee shots. Sure beats having to use a new wooden tee for each drive!

These things last forever and a day. I gave my scrambles partner one last year and she used it for a dozen rounds till I found some pink ones for her.

The downside of using the preset height tees is that is doesn't allow you to shape your drive; teeing it lower for those in-the-face windy days when you want a lower trajectory.

Absolutely! That's what I don't like about them as well. And GolfSavage, you're right, I almost mentioned that - they're biodegradable as well!

Re: New golf tee

For those of you that don't like them because you can't tee up a ball lower when you want to. THAT'S ONE REASON THEY COME IN DIFFERENT LENGTHS. Just for you guys.

And no, I didn't try to match the tees with my Q link. I couldn't find any tees made of Stainless steel. Have you found any tees like that?????

Re: New golf tee

I like the Zero Frictions. They hurt your fingers when being pushed into hard ground, but they last forever! I've had a pack of 50 for over 6 months now..

I can't say they add any difference, but I sure save money on tees!

P.S. they can be raised or lowered to adjust trajectory.. why are some of you saying they can't? Me thinketh you need a longer tee..
