Re: New Putter!
I'm a big fan of YES! putters. I've got the Callie Model and it's the best that I've used.
I honestly don't see what all the fuss is about the Cameron's but it's whatever you like I guess.

![]() One thing I've noticed on the Yes! putters, as well as all other putts for that matter is they seem to have a lot of loft on them. It very well could be the way that I hold the putter, but with my Yes! Callie, I took it and had it delofted 2 degrees and it's soooooo much better now. I also really like the looks of the Abbie but can't really see paying 250 for a putter that I likely won't putt any better with than the one I've got.

Re: New Putter!
how are bettinardi putters?
I like the looks of the Yes! putters... but i don't see them used there very often... i see a lot of bettinardi putters though. after my rounds this seasons i get a feeling that this may be a good thing for me to look into... i like my 2ball but i'm leaving a lot of putts short because the insert i think. i don't really like the soft feel anymore.

Re: New Putter!
I also had an insert style putter. I went to the milled Staff KC in my sig and my putting has greatly improves. I would recommend the one in my sig if you can found one. A couple of people here on the site picked this putter up when it was on closeout for like $25 on rockbottomgolf.com. They no longer have them, but you might be able to find them somewhere else. Great putter.

Here's what I recommend: You go to the golf shop and you try a bunch of different putters and you buy the one that feels best to you and whatever name is on that putter, is what it is. You wrote that you're hoping to score a scotty cameron. Is that what you want? Have you hit some scotty's? Or are you just looking to buy a scotty cameron because it's a scotty cameron? Whenever I buy a putter, I honestly don't look at the name (if I can avoid it) and I never look at the price unless I like it enough to consider buying it. Sometimes, the scotty is the right one for someone, but other times a relative "no-name" feels perfect. The only way you're going to find something you like is to try out a bunch of putters. Don't buy a putter based on a name. I know a lot of people who would eat PB&J for dinner for two weeks just so they can "own" a scotty, whether it's a good putter for them or not. Personally, I don't care much for scotty's. Most of them are too light and there are other putters out there that feel much better to me. But that's me. Like I said, I buy what feels good and half of the time if you stopped me in the parking lot and asked me what I just bought, I'd probably have to actually look at it to answer your question. Make sure it feels good to you first, then see who made it. -JP

If it's any consolation to you, I had a 2 Ball putter before switching to my Yes and once I made the switch, I was literally like a new person on the greens. Even my playing partners noticed the instant improvement on the greens. I was terrible with my 2 Ball putter to be honest about it. No feel, would run short ones by the hole a mile and leave long ones short, etc. I'm guessing I've cut 4 putts off my normal round since switching to the Yes. Anyway, good luck finding something.

And speaking of putter and fitting, why is that every putter I stroke in the golf shop feels great and I can set and sink 20 footers one right after the other....but get the thing out onto the course and nothing goes in. I've always wondered if the shops slope the holes so that more balls roll in so that it convinces you that you need a new putter. If they do then smart on their part. Well, the operative phrase here is "good clubmaker". By good clubmaker, I don't mean the guy with his nametag written in erasable ink at the local "Clubs r Us". I'm talking about someone who came up working with persimmon drivers and who understands craftsmanship. The reason I mention persimmon is that all of the old wooden clubs from years ago had some type of insert glued into them (usually some type of phenolic resin) and that kind of clubmaker understands how to work with inserts. Many times, someone would want a different type of insert material installed in a driver, for example, and that material would range from other types of plastics, to a variety of metals and the clubmakers in those days could install just about anything. So if you can find a guy like that near you, give him a call and tell him that you'd like to have the insert in your putter changed to something firmer than what you have in it now. I'm sure he could help you. -JP

Re: New Putter!
I have unfortunately bought and tried various putters - experimenting with different styles.
Nike Oz T130 Rife 2 Bar Blade Rife 2 Bar Mallet Yes! Marilyn Scotty Cameron Newport 2 TM Rossa Daytona1 -- I finally settled down with 2 different putters - the Marilyn for slow greens and the SC for fast ones.

I'm serious. I have been trying to talk myself out of buying a new Scotty Circa 62. But every time I go to the PGA Tour Superstore and practice putting from say 30 feet, the putts just pour in ...or at least "pour close". Seems like the PGA Tour Superstore folks are working against my determined efforts to talk myself out of a $269.00 purchase. Out of ten putts from 30 feet, I swear that 2 or 3 will go in the cup, 3 or 4 will go tantalizing close, say 2 within feet and the others will be within say 4 to 5 feet. Of late, my putting has improved on the course, but not that good. Obvioulsy the artificial turf on the store's putting green is smoother than an actualk green and has no ball marks, etc. but I have really wondered whether or not the store's putting green is "doctored" in some other fashion? (Nayyyyy, I say. This is America and an American retailer would never stoop such a trcik. Now would they?????? )I'd really love to test the Scotty Circa 62 on the real deal but I don't think that the good folks at the PGA SS are likely to allow me to do a true test run before buying. Store slope/imperceptible ball tracks or not, I feel like a more confident putter with the Circa 62 in my hands. I am currently using a Yes! Callie cut down from 35 inches to 34 inches and with a Tigershark handle. It putts ok, but to be honest I think that I just want the Scotty. Call me crazy, but I think that I putt better with the Scotty. So assuming that I can find a way of sneaking it past the wife , I'm likley to have it before summer's end.(Of course, maybe one solution is to get the greenskeeper at my home course to use that same kind of carpet on the greens as they use at PGATour SS. )---- JustPlainWill |

Re: New Putter!
If all they sold were Scotty C's, your fears of the store subterfuge would be valid. But if they sell other putters, that are much cheaper, the putts made with them would also feed toward the hole, making them appear to be as good as the SC (which they may be!). I think the main difference is the atmosphere you are in while trying them in a store. You're not trying to make par or win a skin, there's no imperfections in the green, no side slope, no grain, etc. If you practice putting into a cup placed down the carpeted hallway at home, do you tend to make better putts there than on the course?

Re: New Putter!
Been looking at the Scotty Circa 62 - No.2. There's one that is 34" inches long that really feels good to me. I think that the standard length is 35" but 34" inches just feels better. Seems like I can control it better and this is the one where the test putts just seem to pour into the cup. I also have done some test putting with the Detour Newport 2.0. I like the feel of it but it seems that with my setup, I tend to pull the Detour a bit left or "inside" the target line. I've talked to some other people who said the same thing. Anyway, I think that I will stick with the Circa 62-No.2 when I replace my current putter. Seems to me that when you get right down to it, its all about feel. Seems to me anyway.
