They remind me of the new Cobras for some reason. Maybe just the silhouettes are real close. Or maybe since they are both Acushnet companies!

Re: Titleist 909 driver pics...

I think they're pretty sweet. I saw some pictures of the US Open practice rounds and a couple players in the field are debuting them. They really look nice and I really want to hit one.

Re: Titleist 909 driver pics...

I'm sure it will retail for around $499 like all the other Titleist drivers when they first arrive.

Re: Titleist 909 driver pics...

Are those the final colors or is the gray/black combination look only because these are prototypes?

Its ugly as sin... Titleist should just stop making new drivers and keep the 905r going.

Re: Titleist 909 driver pics...

I don't know...just looks like a driver to me...bet it is black on top with the std titleist alignment mark...905r is the best driver that I had hit until I tried the 907d2...but they were very similar...I don't know how much can be done to improve on driver head technology, but I do know that it warrants a look...

Never did get the importance of graphics...after a year in my bag with no headcover it will just be scratched and dinged like the rest...good thing the ball doesn't care about ugly...

Yeah, not much else can be done to improve driver head technology. They can still improve little things here and there, but no matter what they do to a driver head it will never be perfect for everyone because everyone swings different and the improvement they can make will be marginal at best.

The real technology now is in the shaft and the companies know that, that's why we're seeing the the interchangeable shaft technology.

I don't know how you do it. That would bug the ever lovin' you know what out of me to have a scratched driver head! I have a small place on mine now (there when I got it) that bugs me when I think about it!

Re: Titleist 909 driver pics...

I just self-painted my 3-wood that had a lot of sky marks (low profile face, I kept getting under tee'd balls with it, ugh...and at the range, have to watch out for sand on the balls...that really scratches). I got fine sand paper and smoothed out the scratches going across the top...didn't go further than I needed to. Then I put tape across the face just perfectly fitting the edge where the crown starts, taped up the shaft, put a little piece of tape on the mark in the middle front of the crown....then sprayed black enamel at the face, catching the front edge of the crown, not trying to paint the crown, just the front face. Then I let it try for couple of days....took fine car polishing compound to remove the sprittlzes of paint that fell on the crown and smooth out the front....then took Turtle wax to the hole thing. I must say, from address position, it looks like new. Would have been a good photo for 'before' and after'

Like you, I don't like scratches....I Turtle Wax my driver and woods every week. With the wax, it protects it from hits that would normally put a scratch on the crown.

Hmmm, never thought about turtle waxing my driver head. I'll have to give it a shot and see if it helps out. I noticed that I've also got some very fine wispy scratches on the head of my drive now where I've cleaned it with a small soft bristle brush (that came in a club cleaning kit). I guess the finish on the new Cleveland XLS's just isn't made to take a brush like that like. It has more of a dull finish where my older driver had a very bright finish and wouldn't scratch easily.
