Well that stinks! Do you know any welders? Usually such things can be repaired with a TiG weld. Any welding shop should have a TiG setup or look for any shop that builds motorcycles as well (they do a lot of TiG welding). If the break is clean, the pieces will position well for a repair and once it's welded and ground, it should be as good as new. It would likely cost you only twenty to thirty dollars or so as opposed to buying a new putter and considering that you're alternative IS a new putter, it couldn't hurt to check it out. -JP

Re: freak accident
Duct(Duck)Tape will fix anything. When I was a younger lad I had both my windshield wipers ripped of my car from an angry ex. The tape stayed on until I sold it more than a year later.

Re: freak accident
I hear Callaway has excellent customer service. I read about a guy on another forum who snapped one of his irons in half and then called customer service to have it replaced. He thought he would have to pay, but they agreed to send him a new one free of charge. It couldn't hurt to call.

Re: freak accident
Ditto on the post above, call up Callaway and see if they'll fix it for free! Doesn't hurt to ask and I've heard good stories about their service to please customers, especially those who bought a putter from them.

Re: freak accident
From personal experience, Callaway has tremendous customer service. Call them up and explain what happened. Also you could probably take the club to a local repair shop (Golfsmith?) and ask them about reshafting.
Any of the above beats shelling out $120 for a new putter - unless you wanted to get a new putter anyway. ![]()

Re: freak accident
I had a "freak accident" once. My car was hit by 6 stoned hippies driving a beat up VW Micro-Bus!
You can thank the late Mr. Carlin for that one. ![]() If the putter was a favorite I'd do anything to get it repaired. If it was just another putter in a long line of putters, I'd find a new one to head the list. |

Re: freak accident
clearly there are lots of options for me to solve this problem...
so i guess my question is, would any of you get a new putter and move on to a new life... or get this one fixed / call customer service? and if you were to choose a new one, which one would you get?

Re: freak accident
I'd call customer service first - if the repair is free or minimal - get the putter repaired.
Exercising my theory that one can never have too many putters, with the money saved, I'd also buy a new putter. My current Ping Karsten Craz-E is working pretty good right now, but we're still on our "honeymoon." It is different than my previous putters in shape and weight. It sets up nice and square, has no face insert, and puts a nice roll on the ball. Just a suggestion if you're going to test out putters.

Re: freak accident
I like the duct tape idea...
But I would go the customer service route, inquire about reshafting possibilities (could you send it in and have them refit it for a fee?) and if that didn't work out it would be time to go putter shopping... Thanks Keith... ![]()

Re: freak accident
If Cally won't take care of it , Oneputt said he would fix it. Problem solved. I don't think he was planning on keeping it.
Good Man!
