Ok both the Captains have agreed to let me play my first round early. Here is the course information and web site. Ladera Golf Course - City of Albuquerque) It is a par 72 with slope bieng 119, rating 71.4 and 6618 yards long from the white tees. I guess the pressure is on me now to post the first good score for us OG's.

No pressure RoyalWulff, just have a good time.

And to all, please don't post your scores here in the thread. PM them to Stlcard_25 and me. We'll post periodic updates here. Keeping the scores to ourselves during the competition encourages more people to actually participate. Believe me, it's better this way.

Re: OG/YG Returns!!

Sign me up, I should be able to handle this. I'd be a young gun, that probably benefits the OG's. My handicap is 18. The YG's handicap is me.

So I went back to the top of pg 39 on the what did you shoot thread and put in all my numbers into that handicap calculator Waz posted in another thread...

Golf Handicap Information and Handicap Calculators - PGA Professional.com

for all who missed it...

...and I came up with a 7.1...don't kill me if my game comes back OGs, and don't hate me if it continues to slide YGs!!!

OG could mean "Old Gals", I guess.

Oh, and YG can mean "Young Girls", too!

Re: OG/YG Returns!!

Well, much to their dismay, I'll be on team OG.....at 42, I've got a lot more in common with a 50 year old than a 20 year old.

Waz, as you may remember, I don't have a handicap at my level of futility - my home courses' rating is 67.5, and I usually shoot pretty consistently between 100-110...

xnavyct's scoring range is 100-110 on his 67.5 home course. I assigned him a 33 handicap based upon that. Seems about right to me if 100 is the low end of his range. If any of you object, let's hear it.

Re: OG/YG Returns!!

Is it too late to change my handicap for the competition? I added my last couple of scores in, including Saturday's 82 (on a Par 67) and I am now a 20.9.

Re: OG/YG Returns!!

Ugh... used the handicap calculator Waz and BigVivec referenced with my scores and I'm higher than I thought. Came in at 20.1. I'll stick with the 17 - that's the horse I rode in on, and I should have checked it before giving it. Been playing an executive course a lot lately (and not very well) and that's got my number up a bit.

Re: OG/YG Returns!!

Well I played my first round of this years OG/YG duels of the fools, and I gotta tell my OG teammates sorry. I think I came in right around my handicap #, but I left a lot of them out there. I played with my wife and another couple and funny thing is that my wife asked me why I was being so serious(she actually used another word, but it wouldn't fly here) and I told her about the comp we have going here. After she called me a dork, which I agreed, I started playing a little lighter and had a good time.

I might be getting my second round in on Friday or Saturday, so I will be sitting in the virtual clubhouse waiting for my Geritol Warriors to bring home the cup. Good luck fellas.

Re: OG/YG Returns!!

I knew this thing should be coming along any time now.. and now here it is. Unfortunately, I will not be able to participate in it this time around. Right now, I am up to my neck in school and work, and have no time for golf playing.

Sorry to let ya down.

But I will cheer on the YGs, and poke fun at the old guys whenever I can!

Handicaps can and should be updated throughout the competition. Submit your current handicap when you submit your scores.
