OG/YG Returns!!

Some of you may remember the competition we have had here and at the relic the last three years, involving the Old Geezers and Young Guns. Well, it's time to bring that back! So here is the signup for the ultimate of Golf Rewound competitions...will you join the Old Geezers, led by Captain wazmankg? Or will you join the winning squad, captained by myself?

The rules....the competition will run from June 15 (final round of the US Open) until July 20 (final round of the Open Championship). You will need to play two rounds, submitted to both captains along with your handicap and the course rating for the course you played it on. So, sign up and bring your A game because this one is for all the bragging rights!! All players who are under 30 years old are automatically YGs, and likewise, over 50 is OG. Those between 30 and 50 are up for grabs and capable of being recruited.

Re: OG/YG Returns!!

Do we still need to notify captains beforehand that we're going to play a round for submission, or do we just choose the two best rounds we play during the contest period?

Notify the captains, or state your intent in this thread, preferably. Obviously we're on the honor system but at least if you say you're going to play, your score will filter in more quickly.

Re: OG/YG Returns!!

Sounds good Card. Didn't we clean your clocks the last time ? That's one of the great things about being an OG. I forget the bad and remember the good. I'm in of course. I have to enter a couple of recent scores but I'm a 14-15. I'll update it later. Everyone copy the list and add your name and handicap(or estimate) to your team.

YG's
****

1. stlcard_25 (5)

OGs
****

1. J.D. (17)
2. Wazmankg (tbd)

and this will be done by the honor system. Only your sense of ethics and personal integrity will be your guide. A complete explanation of the concept and all of those big words will follow for some of our more challenged young folks.

30 & under = YG
50 & older = OG

those in between may choose the team they'd like to be on.

You must have a pretty small memory bank in the "OG/YG" section of your brain then. Although I will give you that one victory two years ago...otherwise it's been YG domination.

Re: OG/YG Returns!!

I'm in, another year as a tweener and I will once again be representing the OG's. I know that my fellow OG's were hoping I didn't respond to this thread, but I feel it is my responsibility as someone who has played in every one of these, including those at the relic to keep the streak alive. While my fellow last place vying OG Phil has left the building and taken his ball with him, I will do what I can lessen the damage to our OG team. You think I stink at the pick'em contests, wait til you see my scores.

My golf league handicap is a 9 for 9, so I guess i will be an 18 for this event.

Re: OG/YG Returns!!

I'm in for the YG's...I could go either way but seems like all the tweeners have admitted to themselves how hard those first few steps are in the morning...

I haven't kept a handicap for a few months...and with the recent club change I have been shooting considerably worse than I had been...so not sure what is fair...let me ruminate on it and see how current trends are as I don't want to be called a sandbagger...

Re: OG/YG Returns!!

Much as I'd love to play, I seriously doubt I will manage two rounds in that time, and even if I did, I doubt they'd be particularly helpful to my team, seeing as I've hardly played this year and I'd be playing on courses I don't know.

Re: OG/YG Returns!!

I'm in for the OG's....OG's rock!

Handicap should probably be considered around 10 right now. My actual USGA handicap is suspended until I find a new home club, but that should be around the right number.

Re: OG/YG Returns!!

I'm in for the OG's as well, I've been an OG for the last 2 or 3 of these, and don't plan on getting any younger. As with last year, I'll have to wait until I'm ready to play a round to give an accurate cap. I'm floating somewhere in the 17-19 range and if it's a hassle I'll just go with the lower one so as to not cause grief. Of course my game itself causes me grief. As well, my presence may be a plus for the YG's - I have only once played to my assumed handicap this year, and it was on a par 62 course - not one I could use for this competition...

Re: OG/YG Returns!!

I may just sign up for the YG's this year as a way to give the OG's a better chance! It's probably the best way I can help the OG's!

Any offers to influence me to sign for the other team?

Count me in for for the YG's. I am currently playing off a 24 after 10 rounds. I shouldn't have taken most of the winter off.

Re: OG/YG Returns!!

It's about time, I think that I did one of these. Sign me up for the OG's (even though in my mind, I'm 19!). Don't have an official handicap though. Think I'm about a 22.
