Re: What did you shoot today?

Played at Dell Urich yesterday afternoon. 108 degrees, but so dry it didn't feel bad. I shot 81. I was just cruising on the front par, bogie, 5 more pars, and then a couple of bad shots lead to doubles. 5 over on the front and another 5 over on the back. I don't get it.... how can I be playing so well and suddenly have two doubles in a row??? I hate golf!

Re: What did you shoot today?

I was on track to shooting a 39 in my last qualifier and there was a weather delay when we had 2 holes left. 15 minutes later, i go triple bogey, par for a 42... no good. on the back i didn't keep score but i woulda shot about a 40. on the last 2 holes, i used my friends Mizuno MP 600 driver and was pin high on a 335 yard par 4 and had 150 into a 485 yard hole... I gotta get me one of those...

Pistol vs Mr Bogey Epic Battle June 18 2008 (Dry 9 degree day) Blue tees 3450 yards Island View

Hole 1 par 4 Pistol 4, Mr Bogey 5 Pistol 1 up
Hole 2 par 4 Pistol 4, Mr Bogey 4 Pistol 1 up
Hole 3 par 4 Pistol 4, Mr Bogey 4 Pistol 1 up
Hole 4 par 4 Pistol 5, Mr Bogey 5 Pistol 1 up
Hole 5 par 4 Pistol 5, Mr Bogey 4 AS
Hole 6 par 3 Pistol 3, Mr Bogey 3 AS
Hole 7 par 5 Pistol 4, Mr Bogey 6 Pistol 1 up
Hole 8 par 3 Pistol 5, Mr Bogey 3 AS
Hole 9 par 5 Pistol 4, Mr Bogey 4 AS

Gross scores : Pistol 38(+2) Mr Bogey 38(+2) Match halved

08 Match (bet) record: Pistol 30 Mr Bogey 8 Tied 6
Pistol has $31.00 lead

Another sloppy round for both of us, not terrible but just not real sharp on many shots. Tied going to the par 5 last hole, I put my second in the left trees, while Pistol was in the fairway. I punch-hooked a 9 iron from 105 onto the green, and inside Pistol's 3rd from 78 yards. From 30 feet below the hole, Pistol rolled a no-doubter in center cut. My 18 footer from a slightly different angle slammed right into the center of the hole as well, and we both had a satisfying finish to an otherwise close but not very well played match.

Re: What did you shoot today?

broke 90 on a par 72.
shot an 87. brilliant day. almost reached a short par 4 in 1. Had 9 GIRs. Really upset that my putting was not better. sank one putt outside of 5 feet (pathetic)

Re: What did you shoot today?

85 at Dell Urich. Just had a horrible back nine. Two doubles and a triple. I put the TM driver back in the bag last night and that was a mistake. I am going back to the Sumo2 tomorrow and the TM is going in my spare clubs in the corner of the garage. I got my Titleist irons back today, so my approach shots were better, but the driver put me behind the 8 ball too many times off the tee. It's really hard to make a par when your next shot after your tee ball is a recovery to get back in your fairway.

Re: What did you shoot today?

Played today...came down with pinkeye yesterday...on the way to the doctor now...so one eye was almost swollen shut and the other was half closed...shades of Tiger!?!?!?

Anyhow, predictably, I didn't play well, but didn't keep score either and played three balls, working on some things...I love golf...

Re: What did you shoot today?

I got in a quick 9 holes after work today. My distance was off on all shots. After making a triple bogey on hole 2 I managed to salvage a 41 out of the nine. I hit only 2 greens, had 12 putts for the 9, and had 3 fairways hit.

Re: What did you shoot today?

yesterday i shot a personal best of 87.

today i shot a personal best of 83 (par 72)!!!

i only carried 9 clubs and played the last 4 holes in the dark pretty much.

i had 8 pars and only 1 double bogey. my putting was not all that great but i only took 34. The best part is the fact that i had 7 GIRs!!!

i'm a really happy man right now!

Re: What did you shoot today?

Taking a few days of vacation so I don't lose it... our fiscal year ends in June and I can only carry over a week. Played Fred Enke this afternoon and shot a 79. I was hitting my irons great for a change and I put the Sumo2 back in the bag. I didn't have a single wayward tee shot. I am done with the Burner. It is definitely going in the spare bag closet.

Re: What did you shoot today?

Weird day today. It's been 2 weeks since I played and I shot a 51/45 96, 2nd worst round this season, and it didn't seem like I played that poorly. I wasn't that far off with anything. I had 38 putts and it doesn't feel like I putted that poorly. Maybe I was just in a good mood. I got a bird when I stiffed a 7-iron on a par 3. I had 7 3-putts. That's usually about a months worth. One more time tomorrow before my 1st OG round next week.

Re: What did you shoot today?

Yesterday was my weekly men's league day. Had a day were I played way below my league handicap and was still upset with how I played. I am a 9 for my 9 hole league. Today I shot a 41 with two birds and 3 double bogeys. I won a couple of skins, the closest to (4'9") made my deuce on that on, so I won that pot, won low net and low putts-13. All and all about $75 will go into my pocket at the end of the season payout. But all I can think about is the 3 doubles I had. The first one I can live with. Long par 3 with a big undulating green. Hit it short, chipped short and left my par putt short by about 5 feet. Bogey putt lipped out and rolled farther away then it started. Sunk that putt for a tasty 5 on a par 3. The other two doubles were just brainShades, decent drives then have the wheels fall off for a couple shots on my way to the 6's I would score on each hole. I was net -4, but I just can wrap my arms around it. I had one three putt, two 2 putts and 6 one putts. What could have been.

This morning I am playing my second OG/YG round at my home course with my brother. If I can shoot like I did today on a course I am really familiar with, hopefully I can post something that won't hurt the OG's for the first time in three years.

Re: What did you shoot today?

I did pretty well, shot a 5 over 40. One of my friends gave me a little tip before the round that straightened my driver and fairway woods up which helped tremendously.

Re: What did you shoot today?

my game is hot right now... it feels so good. Today I went out and shot an 84!! I made 33 putts and hit six GIRs. Off the tee I was on fire and hit 11 fairways.
I had 2 birdies that were both beautiful. One was a left to right lag down a steep break that just happened to roll right into the center of the cup. The other was on a 200 yard par 3 where my tee shot ended up 3-4 feet from the hole. From the tee I thought that one was going in and got really excited... thankfully it didn't go in because i would be bummed if no one saw it but me.

Re: What did you shoot today?

I was 9 over after 15 holes when I had to give it up and drive in. Guy in front of me and twosome in front of him.. twosome wasn't letting anyone through and they were awful. Spent more time looking for balls than playing.

Re: What did you shoot today?

I shot 80 yesterday on my home course, but struck the ball well. I 3-putted three times...just blew the first putt 4 feet by and mis-read the comebackers, then made double on 18 by hitting a wedge W-A-A-A-Y over the back. Score wasn't as good as I struck it, but I enjoyed the day with my friends.

Re: What did you shoot today?

Played in a 3 man scramble yesterday. My team consisted of a horrendous golfer, a bad golfer, and me (ok golfer sometimes). These guys were some old golf buddies I haven't seen in a while. It got me out of having to go to the second day of my wife's family reunion, so it was doubly good.

My team came out with a one under 71. We are 4 shots off the lead in our flight and we are probably out of contention of any type of prize money. On the front nine I played lights out from tee to green. The round lasted much longer than I'm normally used to and I just wore out on the back nine.

It's a two day tournament. My goal today is to not come in last place in our flight.

This one went sour for me out of the gate - after a great recovery pitch on #1 I pulled my under-3-foot par putt, then after two perfect shots on #2 I left my under-3-foot birdie putt short, and after a difficult downhill shortside trap shot to six feet on #3, the well-struck putt refused the slight break and stayed out. Three holes in, should be 1 under, instead +2 and 3 down. Still, afterward I had a sloppy round and even though Pistol struggled and missed a few short ones as well, he did roll a few nice putts in, capping it with a beauty on the last hole for a total win of the day.

Re: What did you shoot today?

82 this morning at Silverbell. I was just cruising along, the starter put us off on the back and I even managed to get past 17 with a bogie. (It has been my nemisis lately). I was 3over at the turn and playing well on the back until I got to #8. This is a mid-length par 4 with water down the left. My tee shot found the right treeline, but I had a pretty clear path to the green. I just hit an awful shot and caught a tree branch that redirected the ball into the water about 50yards out. I then proceeded to hit 3 hosel rockets in a row before I got under control and up and down for a quad. I was stunned and so were the two guys playing with me. I didn't know them, but they both said they couldn't believe I hit those poor shots after the way I had been playing. I can't explain it myself. I was still in a daze when I parred out on the par 3 ninth. Weird!
