Re: Pre-golf music
I used to like to listen to "Eye of the Tiger" before I played...or the Rocky theme song. Now, basically I just like to listen to something enjoyable. Not too picky.
![]() Also, during a round, I almost always have something in my head...I prefer it to be a slower song. Faster songs tend to mess with my tempo, strange as it sounds.

Re: Pre-golf music
I usually grab a CD to play in the car on the way to the course. No specific favourites though - a few I can remember recently were The Replacements and Smashing Pumpkins (long drive that day), Damian Marley, Beastie Boys... anything that I think is going to make me up for it.

Re: Pre-golf music
I usually don't do music in my vehicle....I listen to NPR most of the time. If I did put on music, it would probably be country, any country as long as its not too twangy. When traveling, I normally have a book on CD going, mysteries are my favorites.

Re: Pre-golf music
Really don't have any dedicated 'pre golf' music I listen to on the way to the course...I do usually put the TV on the Golf Channel when I'm getting ready to leave the house, kinda to get me in the mindset....

Re: Pre-golf music
I'll listen to anything from The Beatles to The Beastie Boys to Snoop Dogg to Flight of the Conchords. And more often than not, what's in my head on the course isn't any one of those... lately it's been that Katy Perry song *shudder*. The only thing I make sure is that it's a CD, I want to hear music not the babble of talking on the radio.

Re: Pre-golf music
I listen to 'The Format' for two reasons:
1) It puts me in a good mood. 2) Most of their songs have a nice steady beat that I keep in my head for tempo purposes.

Re: Pre-golf music
On the way to play or if I'm practicing and have my ipod on, I like to listen to "chill" type music. Stuff like Moby & Massive Attack. It's just mellow electronica type music that I can have on and not pay much attention to, but it helps even me out. Try it out sometime...it's good stuff. Sirius 35 Chill.

Re: Pre-golf music

Nothing in particular. Sometimes I'll flip through the radio and see what's playing, other times I'll listen to some talk radio (usually NPR, and other times I'll just leave the radio off. I always have some tune floating around my head, pretty much 24/7, so I'm never at a loss for something to hum to. And yes, I occasionally get the dopey commercial jingle or maybe an old time TV theme song stuck in my head, but honestly, it's only in MY head and as long as I'm not singing it out loud, it really doesn't bother me (or anyone else). -JP

Re: Pre-golf music
Not really. For the past few months I've embraced the notion of carpooling with another member at my club who I play with. So we spend the 20 minutes going there just talking about the week we've had, and spend the 20 minutes coming back doing the traditional shoulda coulda woulda bit. LOL....

Re: Pre-golf music
My wife bought me a stuffed animal as a joke that plays the "Manamana Song" from the Muppets when you squeeze its foot. She also downloaded it onto her phone as her ringtone for me. She had played the thing about 10 times one day before I left to play golf and it was in my head. Walking up to one of the tee boxes, I sang "manamana" and I swear my three buddies all went "dut du de du du" right on cue. It got to be a big joke among us.

Re: Pre-golf music

Actually, the "Manamana" song was around long before the muppets made it famous. I was used regularly on the Red Skelton Show, which was where I first heard it. (Yes, I'm old enough to remember that) -JP

Re: Pre-golf music
I never heard it on Red Skelton (that I remember). That's surprising too since I grew up in the same era.

Re: Pre-golf music
I have a usb plug in the face of my car stereo, therefore I have a huge library at my fingertips...no favorites, but whatever it is it must be loud...sort of my wake up call and the front drive guys at the club get a kick out of a little Van Halen, Coltrane, Buju Banton, Andrea Bocelli, Alice in Chains or Method Man turned up to "11" at 5:45 in the morning...

Re: Pre-golf music
Ahhh, The Muppets. It was on that car commercial too a year or two back. Now it's stuck in my head, I'm not mad, I should thank you, it's and upgrade!
