Re: Playing partner in Rantoul, IL area

Hey, Troll. I don't know anyone over there for you to play with, but having moved to an area where I didn't know anyone either, I can give you some useful advice.

Go to one of the local public or municipal courses and talk to the person working the check in. Just tell them you are new in the area and are looking for a group to join. It may take a couple of tries at different courses before you hook up, but don't give up. I have had to do that twice since I started playing and it is amazing how helpful and friendly others in the golf industry and other golfers can be to a newbie. I know it takes screwing up your courage to stick your neck out the first time, but it gets easier. I still go out and play with new people most weekends even though I have kinda established a group. It is fun and exciting to get thrown in with unknown quantities. Give it a try and good luck to you.

Re: Playing partner in Rantoul, IL area

I used to live in Bloomington, IL, but now I am up in DeKalb. If I was still down that way I would definitely play. Sorry I am not much help, but I would do as C-Tech said.

Thanks for the advice, will definately take ya up on it. Altho it is fun to just get out and play, is more fun when you are comfortable with your playing partners.
