Re: Cargo shorts - not acceptable course attire?
I carry 4 or 5 tees, one extra ball, my scorecard, and pencil. I walk every time I play, and like having the scorecard and pencil right there where I can write down my score after I putt in on each hole.

Re: Cargo shorts - not acceptable course attire?
I don't know why, but that has me laughing my rear end off over here. Now that's blunt.
There are way too many comebacks here. Where is League when you need him?

I wear 'em to play golf in, to go out in and to work in. Oh, I also wear 'em in the winter too.

Re: Cargo shorts - not acceptable course attire?
I think my tasteful cargo shorts and my leather scorecard wallet go together just fine, thank you... beauty is in the eye of the beholder and when I behold myself in my cargo shorts holding my scorecard wallet, I think I look pretty darn cool...

off at all you manly men being dissed by little Miss I'm wearing a cute outfit today and you're not. ![]() I dress comfortably and appropriately outside my own home. I've been part of the polo and dockers crowd as well as the Hawaiian shirt guy and I do know there's a time and place for both. The key is knowing the right time and place. I do draw the line at the hat on backwards thing though. It just looks stupid on anyone over 6 years old. |

I would hope so. Dinner can't be late just because you are critiquing cargo short guy.

Re: Cargo shorts - not acceptable course attire?
Shrug all you like…just pointing out that really nice restaurants draw a line…and I think cargo shorts look sloppy, “nice” or otherwise…and to that end I own three pair... and wear them to the course all the time…perfect for golf, especially when I’m practicing on the course and can stuff 5 balls in a pocket…I think that they are fine if the course allows them, but completely understand if they don’t, and since having to go to a store and buy clothes (slacks, shirt and socks) down the road from the course where I played my first round ever and was simultaneously introduced to the concept of dressing for golf, I have since understood completely as well as brought wardrobe options should I be visiting a course for the first time and I have any doubts about what my first choice of clothing might be…that’s just golf, and since some of the more restrictive courses that I have played also happen to have been the best tracks, I appreciate that the two seem to often go hand in hand…that being said, I’ve never been denied access due to cargo shorts, but on the other hand I haven’t tried to wear them at the better courses either…
Another thing that got drilled into my head at a young age is that grown men don’t wear shorts in public unless playing sports or at the beach or resort type setting…having lived in five tropical countries and traveled to many more, it is a value that seems to be shared universally even here on the equator…not telling anyone how to dress, I’d be the last one to do that, but tropical cultures consider shorts gauche, tacky and callow… cargo shorts push that envelope…and as a side note, though many of you might not “care” what other people think, outside of the US in many parts of the world shorts on men in public spaces goes beyond cultural insensitivity and the amusement of watching the “ugly American” but actually can be offensive… …or in CP’s case when he’s rockin’ the tight cutoffs, very offensive (again, thanks for that mental image CP)… ![]() ![]() Just a heads up… ![]()
