Re: Titleist Pro V1/X

Ah, what can you say about the classic that almost everyone has bought/found/stolen and put into play. Great spin, great feel, easy to predict in distance control situations, durable, and the #1 ball in golf

Re: Titleist Pro V1/X

I spin the V1 too much. The V1x suits me just fine.

Re: Titleist Pro V1/X

Its one of the reasons I can't wait for each high school golf season. We get these balls handed out to us before certain tournaments and for accomplishments, boy, is that fun.

Re: Titleist Pro V1/X

I love the soft feeling and spin of the Pro V1, although for distance off the tee, the Pro V1X can't be beat

Re: Titleist Pro V1/X

I really enjoy the ProV1x. I've played nearly all the premium balls to experiment, and the x just fits me. I got too much spin for what I wanted from the ProV1, which bothered me more in the wind (which nearly always blows here in SE Texas).

I love these balls..the only i use for now. Distance is awesome, and action around the green is unmatched.

Re: Titleist Pro V1/X

im a 15 hcp and have just bought the new 2007 pro v1. i was a massive fan of them before but i found they ddidnt last log as they scuffed very very easily. this seems to have been fixed for this year. great distance, spin and control. you know what its going to do every time.

Re: Titleist Pro V1/X

Love the Pro V1x... still working on a box of last year's model that I got for Christmas. And don't believe it when anyone says that you have to swing hard to make the 1x work. My driver SS is 95-100 and I crush the 1x... works just as well with all my clubs, and around the green.... IMO nothing compares.

Re: Titleist Pro V1/X

I like both versions, but am beginning to think that the v1 spins too much...started using the v1x and like it, found it to be very similar to top end callaways...still like driving cheap rock balls the best but where these balls distinguish themselves is around and on the green which is where it counts anyway...

Re: Titleist Pro V1/X

I like the new ProV1x, it has a slightly softer feel than the previous versions. I like that the dimples have been realigned over the seam of the ball, makes for a little more consistent ball flight.

Re: Titleist Pro V1/X

.

Before my six-year layoff back in '97, I was playing Balata's, (I was also playing a 1-iron too, but that's another story). When I came back in '03, there were no more balata's. I was introduced to the V-1 and I have never used anything else. It's the nearest thing to a balata out there AND I don't have to throw it away after 5 holes like the old balata's due to sratches and out-of-round issues.

The V-1 does tend to ride "up the wind" a bit too much when hitting into the wind, but the balata's did that as well. As far as distance is concerned, I'm sure that there are balls out there which travel farther, but the ones I've tried all feel like rocks. The V-1 also has that nice soft balata "thunk" when hit which is key when it comes to the overall feel and feedback on a shot and I need that sound.

I AM going to try the Nike One's this year just to see what they're all about, but they have a tough act to follow in the V-1.

Re: Titleist Pro V1/X

Simply the best. While watching the OPEN, I heard that more of the players were using Pro Vs than all other brands combined. With a little searching, you can get seconds which are practically brand new (only logos or player's ID marks), for under $2 a ball. My last purchase was for 6 doz. at $1.80 each; and I only found one ball with any sort of use mark on it. When I first went to a driving range back in the 50's (that's the 1950s) the old Pro who ran the place said "Son, if you find a Titleist with a smile on it, keep it and play it because it is still better than any other ball you will play." Nothing has changed---well, balls no longer smile, but Titleist is still the best.

Re: Titleist Pro V1/X

I find the Pro-Vs and Pro-V1x balls to perform in 2 key areas just like every other ball I've played :

They sink when hit into the water.
They hide well when hit into the woods.

They may be exceptional balls for some, but I'm not good enough or rich enough to use them.
