Re: Nike One

I really like the One Black, not a huge fan of the One Platinum, but this year's model may be different. The Platinum at retail is actually the same ball that Tiger is playing, for the first time since the old One Gold TW Special, his actual ball is on the market.

Re: Nike One

The platinum is great off the driver with good distance. Where I find it lacking is feel around the green and spin. It doesn't have the same check-ups as you get from the Prov's and HX Tours. It's a great ball, but compared to the alternatives, it leaves some to be desired.

Re: Nike One

tmtp, I really really doubt that tigers balls come off of the same conveyer belt as the ONE Plat that you could go to your local golf shop and buy. Tigers personal web page even says "prototype". It's the same in many situations for the players on the PGA tour, espically the top players in the world, prototype clubs made to look similar to the ones sold in the pro shops around the country no company would have the money to put the time and effort that they have to put into Tigers equipment for the stuff they put out on the market. Prices would be astronomical.

Pgonza, the ONE plat compares with the ProV1x, and the TP Black. They are a higher compression ball (100ish instead of 90ish). Which means they are designed for players with higher swing speeds, it kind of surprises me that a company hasn't come out with a mid 90's (95ish) compression ball to see if the blend of the performances from each ball is kind of meeting in the middle, and they may have done this and it didn't work how they planned.

Actually, I have been to the Nike Golf headquarters and met with Tom Stites and Rock Ishii and they confirmed it, the new One Platinum that is reaching some stores now is in fact the same specifications of Tiger's ball. They ran a PGA training seminar and invited us to the Oven in Texas and went through their entire product line for the next season. His website also says that he has the T60 3 wood in his bag, he had the SQ2 3 wood in play at the Buick, so it is not always up to date. Now I am not saying that he is going to go into the store and buy a dozen for his round.

Re: Nike One

I thought last years model of the Platinum was pretty good, not good enough for me to play it though. We officially got this years Platinums in today at work. So I of course bought a box and plan on playing with them tomorrow. Can't wait!

Re: Nike One

tmtp, thats awesome I bet it was a lot of fun going down there to see all of that and I am very impressed that he is playing a ball that you and I can buy, not really that he is playing it but more that NIKE is selling it. Seems like it would make things easier on them though so thanks for the info and how do you like your SuperQuad, can you tell much of a difference from last years R7 as far as distance goes?

Re: Nike One

Distance wise is maybe three yards gained, the Burner is the one to go with if you are looking to pick up yardage. Great feel with the SUperQuad though, good control over the ball flight and trajectory.

Re: Nike One

I played the Platinum today and I absolutely love it. It's a great performing ball. Long off the tee and I can stop it on a dime if needed. I sucked a wedge back 6 feet..... UP A HILL.... Will take my 2 boxes of TP's back to the store and exchange them for 2 boxes of Platinums!

Re: Nike One

They are very good balls, but I just cannot justify paying over $25 a dozen for a golf ball. Especially playing the majority of my golf on munis. It is amazing how quick a Pro-v, Nike One, or other premium ball disappears!
