Re: Pinnacle Exception

Wonderful ball. Long and soft. Unlike its harder brothers this Pinnacle will not hurt you around the greens and you still may win the longest drive with it. I have been using it exclusively during the fall/winter after trying out many others. It will be my ball for this year.

Re: Pinnacle Exception

This is a great ball if you are doing a long drive contest, but other than that...WHY buy it?

Because it is not only long. As I stated before it will not hurt you around the greens. Its not a ProV but its made by Titleist and it does drop and stop pretty good. Its such a bargain at $17-19.99 most stores. Not a better ball available in that price range.

Re: Pinnacle Exception

I've been using them since last summer, and like them a lot. I'm a high handicapper who can use a little distance. They provide enough feel to work for me, and as mentioned above, the price is pretty easy to deal with.

I used to think the same thing, Pinnacles are nothing but rocks. I ended up with one in my bag sometime last summer and gave it a play. Bought a couple dozen after that. Callaway is still my ball of choice, but I give the Exception a birdie.

I bought a dozen last year and found them......un-Exception-al, especially in distance, compared to regular Pinnacles and quite a number of other balls.

That discovery really surprised me, because I played Pinnacles for years and have no bias against them. I expected the Exception to give me better performance, and it simply didn't.

As to why a person would buy it? How about expense? It's a relatively inexpensive ball that doesn't make you break out in a cold sweat when it swerves off into the deep, dark, evil forest where the ball-eating ogres lie in wait.

Re: Pinnacle Exception

I was given a couple of sleeves of Exceptions and NXTs to try when I was in Florida last summer. The Exceptions seemed to be nice balls for distance and feel off the driver and okay around the green. They weren't going to drop and stop, but weren't going to bounce and run off the back either. Unfortunately, they seemed to have a fondness for palmetto bushes. On the same par 3, both balls took and immediate hard left turn into the same bush.

The NXTs both played admirably well for a couple of rounds before deciding to go walkabout or scuba diving.

For the money, I usually play the Nike Super Soft. Plays almost as well as the Exception or NXT at $15/dz.

Re: Pinnacle Exception

I gave it a "par". I had acquired about a half dozen when Pinnacle was having their 2-ball give-away. They just didn't work well for me. Driver distance was average, and in the short game they weren't anything spectacular. A friend of mine will play these and does well with them. For me, they were only an average ball at best.
