Top-Flite Gamer

As promised here is my opinion of the Top Flite Gamer after playing a round with them today. In a word WOW!
Callaway has a winner with these balls. They were long and straight with the Driver and Fairway Metals. They have a very crisp sound to them with lot's of feel. I swear they even roll farther on the fairway. They feel light and buttery off the Irons and have pretty good short Iron and greenside spin. I fact I hit a 9 Wood onto the green and it backed up 2 feet.
Thet have good feel and roll in the putting game.
These are definatley going to be the only ball I play for as long as they are available. Like the box say's they are my Gamer.
I found a new to me Golf store on the way home and picked up another box. They were selling there for only $17.95.
I am Happy to announce that someone has finally made a ball for the masses that don't want to pay $50 for a box.
Thank You Callaway you now have a truely dedicated Customer.

Re: Top-Flite Gamer

I can't wait to pl;ay these. I liked the D2 feel last year, but my game is better suited for a 3 peice ball. Right now I am playing Maxfli Fires...these balls should knock them out of the bag.

Wow, from Uniontown? I didn't think they had Internet access down there.

My grandparents live in Vestaburg. Small world....

And yes, since Top Flite came out with the D2, they're back in the game as far as I'm concerned. That was a great ball. This year's version even rated well in Golf Digest review.

Re: Top-Flite Gamer

lol............lose the Maxfli Fires those are rocks you are really going to love the Gamers.
I was playing the D2 feels after many unsuccessfull tries with several other balls.
But the Gamers are even much better than the D2 feels.
One example on a couple of of Par 3's with short Irons I thought I had mishit the ball as I hardly felt it on the Club but as I looked up there was my ball heading towards the green then landing and stopping dead with a little back up.
Off of the Woods they feel so crisp. After one round with these you will be heading out to buy more.

Yeah I know the Fire's are rocks, but they have always perfromed better for me than any 2 peice ball in my price range. I am excite to see top flite came out with a nice 3 peice.

Gamer plays well . . . alternating with D2 Feel shows the Gamer to be 10-15 yds longer for me. Chips well, good roll with putter.

Valid mostly for the driver . . . I didn't notice much difference for the irons.

Re: Top-Flite Gamer

I mentioned the Gamer in Waz's ball thread yesterday. It's a good ball, and I have had almost the same experience as BBob...longer off the tee, some longer with irons. I was long on some iron shots that were at back edge or over greens. It will stop really quickly on full iron shots to a relatively soft green. Texas Wedge, I've used the D2 Feel enough to compare and I think you'll like the Gamer even more because of the length.

To use it all the time, I'll have to practice with them for feel around the green, as they don't spin with the little shots the way I'm used to with ProV1x. Not a bad thing, just different. The ball is definitely a winner.

Re: Top-Flite Gamer

I played my first round with Gamers last Sunday, and I was pleased with them. I am not a long ball hitter, anyway, but the Gamers seem to be longer and straight. I hit 16 fairways with my driver, so I can't complain, that's for sure. My irons seemed to go where I wanted them to, and the short irons stopped quickly on the greens. I usually shoot in the low 90s, but I managed an 87 with the Gamers. I think I'm going to like them. For me, they seem to be a good combo. Maybe it's psychological, but I like the cheap, three piece ball. I can't fault they way they played, that's for sure. One got a little scuffed, but any ball would that hit a cart path on the drive. But for me, they held up quite well. I like the feel off the club face, too. They're keepers.

Where did you get yours from? I've checked several places around town (ProGolf, GolfUSA, Edwin Watts, Dick's, Sports Authority) and they either don't carry them or they're always are out of stock!

I buy a lot of personalized balls for clients from Golfballs.com, Golf Balls, Golf Clubs, Golf Shoes, Golf Gifts and more. They have them there - you don't have to personalize them, but you do have to pay for shipping.

Thanks, but the shipping is the deal breaker. Seems like everywhere you look, the Gamer is $19.99, whether online or retail store. So to buy a box to check them out, I'd have to spend that plus about $7 shipping, so the Gamers are now $27/dozen. I can get a box of Bridgestone e6, Srixon TriSpeed, Pinnacle Platinum Feel, Nike Power Soft, or other ball I already know I like for that or a lot less during my regular shopping, and not have to wait several days, etc.

If the ball is doing so well, you'd think more retailers would keep them in stock, especially those who already sell the rest of the TopFlite line. I can go into just about any golf store, box store or pro shop and buy the D2, XL, Freak, and other TopFlite product - why isn't the Gamer more available?

There are 2 EW stores in the area, and one is near one of my client's office. I have dropped by that store twice in the last 3-4 weeks, and both times they have not had them in stock. Last time I asked them to check the other store, and they were also out of stock. The salesman helping me took my name and number, and said they would call when they got some more in, but so far no word. It hasn't become a quest yet on my part to have these golf balls, as so far I haven't been impressed with any Callaway ball or any TopFlite since they became a Callaway product. But if I ever do find any available I'll pick up a box, just so I can say I have tried them!
