Ok big guy, now's your chance to really shine. You've certainly earned your jacket with your posts and work behind the scenes. What I want to know is what exactly do you plan for dinner?

Re: Congratulations to Bigvivec on his Green Jacket
Thank you for all the kind words...now on to the dinner...
First we need cocktails for a little pre dinner mingling: To be passed around: -Foie Gras Bon Bons with pistaschio and champagne gelee -Corriander crusted New Zealand lamb loin with dijon and Mediterranean green and black olive tapenade -Roulade of tuna and hamachi tartare with capers and salt packed Sicilian white anchovies on japanese bamboo skewers -"Scoop" of Norweigan salmon rilette in crispy wonton cones We need an action station with some uniformed chefs in the corner making: -Miniature free range chicken fajitas -Tiny Kobe beef burgers in parchment with foie gras and Perigord truffles -"Made to order" wings station with a choice of sweet thai chili, teriyaki yuzu or traditional Buffalo hot wing sauce We'll serve beer and champange for this...or a combination of the two "Miller High Life...the champagne of beers!" Now we waddle to the table for a family favorites menu... Start with mom's Spinach and warm bacon salad with cider vinigarette and Gorgonzola Move right along to my late uncle's North Carolina shredded BBQ pork shoulder...this recipe isn't the same without his concoccted sauce that includes half of the coffee that he would be working on while making the dish (poured right from the cup after taking a sip)... Next comes Grandma's Beef Stroganoff, THE family dish that is required learning if you want to remain in the family... Main course is my sister's lemon and garlic roasted chicken and potatoes...her husband is also a chef and apparently taught her a thing or two... Have a pre dessert of my father's homemade ice cream (vanilla, still soft out of the churn...no way we're going to either A)make this in advance or b)wait for it to firm up in the freezer after making it...best eaten fresh and soft!) Finish with a buffet of Grandma's best desserts...warm peach cobbler, fresh Blueberry crumble from Aunt Edis's blueberry patch down the road, Granny apple pie from the tree in the backyard, Lemon Chess Pie (my favorite and probably still on the menu of a couple of restaurants that I passed through) and lastly, a "brown mule"...vanilla ice cream on a stick with chocolate coverture that Grandma had in the freezer like the factory was going out of business...perfect end to many a summer evening... I'll send you all home with a little pepto bismol and mylanta...sorry for the stomachaches but it was worth it!
