Infiniti Hot Shot XS

What did you think of the Infiniti Hot Shot XS Hybrid?

To me, this is one club I will stand by for a long time. It is my go to club when nothing else seems to be working. I feel I can hit it off the tee, out of the fairway, and even out of rough easily. Offers a nice mid/high trajectory with great feel and forgiveness... all in all this one gets a thumbs up from me.

Re: Infiniti Hot Shot XS

I demo'd an Hot Shot XS hybrid for a couple of rounds, It was an 18* on an Accuflex Icon FH shaft (stiff).

I tried it from several different lies, including from the tee. With an 18* I was expecting a little more distance from the club, perhaps as a 3 iron replacement for those 210-220 yard shots. However, I was only able to get about 200 yards from the deck with a good lie. From the tee it was solid and reliable for about 210 yards, slight draw. Since I was demoing another hybrid with 24* loft and getting the same distance or better, I was a little disappointed in the XS.

When well-struck it does get the ball into the air quickly, as a good hybrid should. Although much better forgiveness than most OEM hybrids I've tried, I found a tendency to draw the ball too much, not quite a hook, with some off-center hits. This is most likely due to swing flaws, not necessarily the club, and with the number of good hits I managed it's obvious the club performs well if used properly!

With it's larger-than-average head (for a hybrid), it was a good choice off the tee, and out of light rough. Off tight lies it was easier to hit than a comparable iron, but not the best hybrid I've tried.

Even though my results weren't stellar, I'd recommend comparing this hybrid to others before making a purchase. I'd also prefer one of these over the Nickent, Bazooka JMax, Cleveland and Callaway hybrids I've tried or owned. My son (18 years old, good swing but casual player) hit it several times and liked it quite a bit. So like many clubs, it's not for everyone, but could be perfect for many others. You won't know if you don't try it!
