Question Why do I hit women's clubs better than men's???

I have cobra cxi irons and Hawkeye vft woods.
I recently bought Adam's idea hybrids for my wife.
I tried hers out and I hit them straighter and further than my own!
Does this make sense to any of you?

How tall are you? Maybe the shorter club suits your stature and swing?

It all goes to show that most people are not using the appropriate flex of shaft. Most golfers would do better stepping down on flex. Atleast that is my opinion...

Re: Why do I hit women's clubs better than men's???

My irons are steel shafts. My driver and 3 wood are both firm graphite.
A buddy of mine was telling me that my irons have a smaller sweet spot than normal. He actually recommends these irons to someone with a low handicap.
The thing that I noticed most was the grips. The grips on my wife's clubs are Winn. They have a "cushiony" feel to them and it feels like your hands sink into the grip.
I priced grips this morning and for the same grips it would be $11 per iron. I have from 2 iron all the way to lob wedge. For what it will cost I might just get new irons with a custom fit. My current irons were never fitted for my size(5 foot 6 inches).

I would definitely recommend a custom fit to anyone, frankly. What irons do you have? I'm curious about the sweet spot question.

They are Cobra cxi's. I bought them new about 7 years ago.

I just read your post on custom fitting that cost $600. I think I'll bring my set in and get them checked out. I live in Northern Ontario, so we might not have sophisticated equipment to analize clubs like where you are.

I took a lesson today(because this has been bugging me for days now) and my swing speed at first was 80mph. After a few tips from the instructor and fixing a few things that I didn't even know I was doing my swing speed was up to 89mph. He told me that with a bit more practice at what he had shown me my speed will increase more and I will "grow" into the flex clubs. They are firm shafts and it would be a waste of money dropping down.
Funny thing is over the years my grip got worse and my ball position was sloppy. I bend my knees too much(this probably explains my inconsistancy on the course).
I signed up for three more lessons. Talk about a wake up call though. This is all basic stuff that somehow got forgotten as my bad habits came out.

Bingo (again)... grab a lighter flex shaft.

Where does a ladies shaft fall in comparison to men's Reg <=> Senior flex? Even whippier than a senior?

Re: Why do I hit women's clubs better than men's???

Yes, a L flex is going to be softer than an A (senior) flex. About the cost of thsoe Wynn grips. If you really think it was the grip that made the difference but are not sure, Nothing says you can't re-frip ONE of your irons and see if it really was the grip, and not something else. Then if it turns out not to be the grip, you're not out $100 or more and have to re-grip all your irons a second time, which would cost you more money.
