How do you score this hole??

While we were at Myrtle Beach a week or so ago we were on a par 5 hole. I was pressing on one of my supervisors a bit and he had been beaten 2 of the three rounds we had played so I think this was a desperation effort made by him. Anyway he tees off and goes out of bounds. He then goes where his shot went out and dropped and took a penality stroke and hit another shot that went o.b again up about 100 yards out. he then droped again and chipped on for what he said was for par and 2 putted for a double. The way I score it he should have tee up another ball on the tee box and was hitting 3 off the tee. which would have changed the out come. Because he gained about 220 yards by dropping at where he went out the first shot. So instead of a double he may have tripled of posted a quad. But he beat me by 1 stroke so this is why I am ill about this. I's this scored right or am i right in my ruling??

You are correct. He should have teed up again hitting 3. If he wasn't sure it was out, and you were being followed closely by another group, he should have hit a provisional. On the other hand, do you let your boss win?

No I never let anyone win. I think that is what was getting him the worst. I had won the first round another one of our 4 some won the second round. And it was getting to him because he usually beats us by about 2 strokes on the average but we slip up and get him about every 3 rounds or so.

His score doesn't really matter because he is disqualified.

He played from a wrong place incurring two penalty strokes. Because he was 220 yards closer to the hole than he should have played his stroke it is a serious breach. If he did not correct his error (i.e. go back to the tee and take stroke and distance correctly) before teeing off on the next hole, he is disqualified.

Re: How do you score this hole??

I figured that I was right. As a matter of fact it got to me more because I had the same situation happen the day before and went o.b. off the tee on 18 and he beat me out of 2nd by 1 stroke. But I did tee another up and teed off hitting 3. So I guess if that what it takes to make him content with his score that is on him. I know what I really shot and him too or maybe we will never know!! HUMMM!!
