Question about offical scorecard during Tournament round.

Here's a technical question about the actual score card kept during a tournament round. If I'm keeping one of the other guys score card in a tourney round, is it permitted for me to also keep my own score at the bottom of that card, or should I be keeping it on an additional card. Obviously I want to keep my own score to compare at the end of the round, and I've always just used the last row on the score card I'm keeping for the other guy. No one has ever said this is against the rules. I was hoping someone knows for certain.

Re: Question about offical scorecard during Tournament round.

99.9% of Scorecards have a column for "Markers" score.
If yours haven't, find out why.

It is not against the rules for you to keep you own score on your competitor's scorecard.

Re: Question about offical scorecard during Tournament round.

.

It's no different than keeping score for yourself and a buddy during a friendly round.

The USGA events in which I've participated all allowed the score to be kept this way. Just make sure it's clear as who's score is whose and that the scores are accurate.

Re: Question about offical scorecard during Tournament round.

Ok, thank you. I've only noticed the "Markers" column a few times before, so I didn't know if it was a standard thing on all cards. Honestly, I don't pay too much attention to the card, other than to write in scores. Glad to know I've been ok in doing it all this time.

I pays to read the card before a round. Especially on an unfamiliar course. The card often describes out of bounds areas, places where play is prohibited, etc. You can sometimes save a few strokes by checking such available information before teeing off.
