It's been a rough go of it for the US lately. Will this be the year the Tiger-less fresh blood steps up or will it be more of the same ? Here is the place for all of your Ryder Cup discussion. |

Re: Day 2 Afternoon Fourball Discussion
I have no idea why JL is sitting. They need his consistency and his putting. But Harrington sits on the other side too. Couple of head scratchers.
And Westwood gets to play with his buddy Boo again! They just talked to JL about sitting this afternoon and he sounds slightly disappointed, but as always, very diplomatic and thinks it will help him tomorrow and he just wants to do whatever is best for the team, whether it is sit or play. To me... it's definitely wielding the flat stick for another round.

Re: Day 2 Afternoon Fourball Discussion
Boo & JB kicking it off makes sense I guess. If they get off to a decent start Boo will get the crowd riled up. Curtis-Stricker is a head scratcher. Curtis better show up today. I like Perry-Furyk. Furyk seems to have played his way out of his funk. He's making some putts and KP is playing well. Hopefully Phil will pull his head out of his
this afternoon. I really don't get benching Justin and splitting up that pair.USA up 7-5. An afternoon split would be good.

Re: Day 2 Afternoon Fourball Discussion
Boo is in their heads. We'll see if that's good or bad.

Re: Day 2 Afternoon Fourball Discussion
and Lee drops one in right on top of Boo's on #1. Boo has "inspired" Westwood.
Hopefully that doesn't translate into him getting hot with the flat stick. ![]()

Re: Day 2 Afternoon Fourball Discussion
Didn't Curtis play with Stricker yesterday too? I like that pairing worse today than I did yesterday.
Looks like a fairly even session. I suspect it'll be a 2-2 draw with the US winning match 4, Europe match 2 and two halves. My instinct tells me the US needs a 3 point lead to win tomorrow though, so I'm hoping for better. ![]()

Re: Day 2 Afternoon Fourball Discussion
And on hole #2 JB already has his ball in his pocket. That's what I'm afraid of. Boo can't hang with these guys 2 against 1.

Re: Day 2 Afternoon Fourball Discussion
Yes. Very confusing. I saw Curtis riding around with Zinger after their match yesterday. Curtis has been playing well lately. I guess Zinger figures he's due. Airmailing the 1st with a short iron was not a good start though. At least he got it up & down.

Re: Day 2 Afternoon Fourball Discussion
Did you hear Johnny's comment when they were talking about Stenson's current and Faldo's former caddy Fannie?
"I think she was with him longer than any of his wives." ![]() Followed by dead silence from the rest of the announcers. Maybe Johnny has a career in stand-up. |

Re: Day 2 Afternoon Fourball Discussion
Boo-JB go 1-up or I should say Boo goes 1-up. Though I'm sure JB's big-hitting circus act has been good for some oohs and aahs.

Re: Day 2 Afternoon Fourball Discussion
JB finally provides something useful with the eagle on 10. Phil has a decent look at eagle on 7. The US leads in three of four matches, Europe one. We're gonna need every point we can get being outmanned in the singles tomorrow so I hope they can hold on.

Phil found something this afternoon. Eagles 7 and has a makable look at bird on 8.

Re: Day 2 Afternoon Fourball Discussion
Sergio squares it up against BC/SS with a great chip. 2-1-1 US... all close.

Re: Day 2 Afternoon Fourball Discussion
Either the crowd is much more subdued today or NBC is toning down the sound. Maybe it's just because it's not all USA today.

Boo draws first blood. What a cup he's having. He got next to no help from JB but it worked out for them.

Re: Day 2 Afternoon Fourball Discussion
Wow. I've seen some putts holed today. It's a struggle not to break our language policy saying this. So many putts gone in. I enjoyed Furyk laughing to himself as they left the 16th green, McDowell having holed another long one. And Furyk just made a bomb for himself on 17. Incredible stuff.
