Editing of posts

Q: how come I can not edit all my posts - I can see that if someone has posted in the thread after my post I am enabled to edit - however if there is no response then I can not edit - point in case - on the course review I added my home course - then thought I should add slope and CR in addition to the precise length - but it says I can not edit my post.

Is the assumption correct on the follow on posting or is it something else ?

TYIA

Cheers

Thomas

Re: Editing of posts

There is no reason that you shouldn't be able to edit your post. You are enabled to edit your own posts, and at the present time there is no time limit being applied to your ability to make changes.

Make sure that you hit the "Edit" button below your post before trying to make any changes. After making the changes, hit "Save."

Let me know if you continue to have problems.

The edit button goes away and is not available to us mere mortals after else someone posts.

I don't find myself to be having any trouble with editing after someone else posts....

You're absolutely right . . . not sure what was going on. My edit button is there now . . . never mind, I'll go away now.

Sadly, I fall into a certain age group where confusion reigns supreme.

Thanks for the very quick response

However I still do not have an edit button on the posting for the course review in the Europe section I made.

Elsewhere I have it.

Cheers

My fault, I missed a permission when card and I created the new forums yesterday. It's fixed.

Re: Editing of posts

Not so fast. I just noticed it too, some posts I can edit, some I can't. The two posts I noticed it in are both at the end so it doesn't have anything to do with someone posting after. (One of the two is in SRGs thread asking for our help for contest suggestions which I can edit, and the other is in the TPBM thread in the Lighter Side which I can't edit). There were also a few more of my posts that I couldn't edit but can't remember where. I also have noticed that we can't delete posts, is this just me?

Not just you, for some reason the edit button is there and then gone again. Who knows?

As I understand, that "wrinkle", (among many others with a new site) is being "ironed out" It seems that for now, edits cannot be made once another user has posted after your post. For now, I'd practice spell-checking and reviewing posts before clicking "submit". That would be good advice even after the feature is fixed for some of our grammatically challenged members!

Now you know why so many of my posts have "edited by wazmankg..." at the bottom.

I wasn't referring to you Waz, I would have put something else before "challenged"

There had been a 15 minute limit set for edit allowance. It has since been adjusted to 30 minutes. Hopefully, that should be ample for minor additions/alterations.

I don't see what you're talking about?? Looks just right to me

In fact, it looks like you are the one who spelled it wrong

Of course, I have the luxury of fixing my posts after the initial 30 minute period!

Keep it up Keith, and your posts will start being edited by my 4 year old!!
