Breaking up quotes in replies...

Is there an easy way to break up a reply-quote in order to reply to someone's questions/comments separately? I know that everyone is doing it, even myself. But I find that it's a pain, unless I am missing something.

I've been re-typing the [quote;blah blah/] and the
as many times as I need it. Is that the only way?

The pain of it is that I cannot copy and paste the
thing. When I select text and right click, I don't get a COPY option.

Am I missing a short cut to doing this easily?

Thanks.

As you know, when you hit the "reply/quote" button in the post you want to reply to, you get a message box that starts with the entire post enclosed in the "quote" markers.

I click and drag over the entire post, including the "quote" markers, to highlight it. Then I do a Ctrl-c to copy it. Then I do a Ctrl-v to paste a second copy of the entire post (including "quote" markers) lower in the message box. Then I go back to the first copy of the post and delete the parts that I don't want to respond to just yet, leaving only the part that I do want to respond to, taking care not to delete the "quote" markers. I write my reply to that part of the person's post, and then I proceed to the second copy of the post. I delete the parts I don't want to respond to, leaving only the part I do want to respond to. I repeat the process for as many separate replies as needed.

Doesn't Ctrl-c let you copy (and Ctrl-v let you paste)?

It looks like it worked!

Thank you so much! For some reason ctrl-C/ctrl-V wasn't working for me for so long...

I appreciate the help!

Re: Breaking up quotes in replies...

I copy just the beginning and ending bracketed quote markers, then paste them in as needed wherever I want the quote separated.. inserting my responses in between of course.

Re: Breaking up quotes in replies...

The newer versions of vBulletin have a multi-quote feature.

If you use FireFox, there's a cool extension called "Paste Quote"....that might help too.

Yeah, but it doesn't attribute the quote.

You are right! Might save some time though if you want to go to town on a single post! Attributed quote for the 1st one. Non-attributed for the rest!
