History of the Site

I'd like to see a site history which recounts how the site was conceptualized, who was the originator, who's the boss, who are the administators, blah blah blah. When you like a site you're naturally curious about the who's, when's, why's and what fors. Sprinkle some dates in and some personal information. Would be nice. Thanks.

It's a shaky past, one many probably want to forget...I know I do- he he he!

I'm a little surprised that you don't know where most of us came from. We were part of a happy group on a similarly named site but the owner went on a multi-year hiatus. Many facets of the site stopped working. Some of us that had recurring PayPal payments were no longer considered paying members of the site, with no owner around to resolve the issues.

So this site seems to have more-or-less been born out of a desire to continue with the good and let the bad fend for itself.

There are a really nice group of folks that have made the move as well as new members. Like the motto of the site says - it's a nice, Family Friendly environment.

HERE are the forum Admins and Mods. ForgedRbest, Leaguegolf, Stlcard_25, Scotts1(who is currently inactive due to being otherwise occupied as a Lieutenant Colonel in he US Army) and I (Wazmankg) were longtime Moderators at another golf site that had been abandoned by its owner and only Admin. The site was falling apart but without Admin powers we were unable to make any improvements. The owner(and only Admin) did not respond to repeated requests for help over several months. We mods had to work as a team. One rogue mod(who is not with us here) decided he was going to do things as he saw fit in opposition to the desires of the rest us(banning valuable members simply because he didn't like them, etc.). Not being Admins we had no power to stop him. Things got a bit ugly. ForgedRbest & PingsRbest's daughter Brooke is experienced in web design, so with her invaluable assistance we started our own Board. Forged & Brooke had it up & running in a couple of days. We opened up shop February 4th of this year and most of the members at the other place came with us. That's the long and short of it minus the gory details.

Guys, this has been an interesting read. I came onboard at the previous site just a short few weeks before this one was started, and had only begun seeing the issues. Sure am glad I came over here, though!

I had been at the other site maybe a couple of months or so before a few people pointed out what was going on there. Honestly, I had no idea that things were that out of control. When a few key individuals informed me of this site, naturally I felt I owed it to them to check it out.

Been pleased with the way this place is managed. It's very respectful and tasteful, which is highly unusual from my experiences with other forums. I just wish that I had more time to contribute than I currently do. I enjoy the place very much.

Thanks for the explanations! I like this site because the members are respectful and don't use a flamethrower on you if you misspeak....as I often do. It's fun to be able to express your opinion and get respectful disagreements instead of someone implying that your thought process is scrambled. I've been playing golf almost my whole life and this site is like golfers are in general....courteous and respectful with a little competition thrown in for fun!
