Hi from Michigan

My name is Dave and I live in Marysville , MI . I drive freight trains for a living for a company called Canadian National Railroad . I belong to a private golf course and play 3 to 5 times a week when the weather is good in Michigan which is not too often . Have played alot of golf in Mexico and in Southern California .

My father in law says it's a job that cannot be shipped to China . Long hours sometimes , cuts into the golf game , but it's a job

Re: Hi from Michigan

Hello Dave. We met with a PM but now's my chance to welcome you to Golfrewound. Long days driving freight trains? Tell me about it. I've got a track right near my house that you locomotive drivers tie up for at least 30 minutes a day a couple of times a week. Gates are down and you're going back and forth, back and forth. All at a snail's pace. We know you're just messin with us so get that thing in gear and get it out of the way!!

OK.......can I have a ride?

Re: Hi from Michigan

Welcome to Golf Rewound, Dave!! That's an interesting occupation...not too many trains left around here, but when I was in Canada this past summer, they were everywhere!!

Hope you enjoy the forum.

Welcome! Not too far from myself. I reside across the river and down the road a bit. Started an annual trip about 3-4 hours north of you to the Gaylord Golf Mecca last season. Some wonderful golf that way.

Go Tigers!

I'm in the Twin Cities metro area. As you probably know, Rochester is about a 2-hour drive southeast of Minneapolis. Nice place down there.

The MoA has some interesting specialty stores (e.g., Brookstone, Sharper Image) and some Minnesota-themed stores (e.g., Lake Wobegon USA), and the people-watching is great. But I tend to avoid it. When I'm there, I feel as if I have to see ALL of it, and that can take a while. Haven't yet lost my car in its massive parking ramp, though!

I go to the Metrodome a little more frequently, but I'm not crazy about that place, either. Baseball on plastic grass under a teflon sky... yuck. Yesterday they poured the first concrete for the new Twins stadium, an open-air ballpark that will open in 2010. Can't wait!

As cold as it gets in Minnesota I wonder if the Vikings are going to stay at that dome .
