Hello From Massachusetts

Hello Everyone,

My name is Ryan and I am from Westford, MA. I have been playing for about 6 years now. However, only playing seriously for about a year. I finally was able to break away from the usual players who dont keep score for real... I dont have an established handicap yet, due to now enough rounds... but in the 4 rounds i have played, i have figured to be a 15 handicap. My goal is to get down to a single digit handicap, and play in a few tournaments this year.

Anyway, before i bore you all to death, i will end there.

Ryan

Hi Ryan - It's nice to see someone else from New England - I'm in CT. I think you'll enjoy your time here.

Welcome to Golf Rewound! We won't hold being from New England against you until football season starts! Go Celtics, though!

Good luck as you improve your game. You'll find lots of advice here if you have questions, some of it is even worth listening to!

Re: Hello From Massachusetts

Hello Ryan. Welcome to the forum. I have been practicing and playing for approximately as long as you have. I have hit quite a few balls in your town, at the range at Kimball Farm, and I have gone around the par-3 course there quite a few times also, though not in recent years. I have fond memories of it: Those 50 yard holes with full size greens made me feel really good!

Thanks everyone for the very warm welcome!

Yes, Kimball Farm, i played their pitch and putt a lot... it is an excellent place to practice your short game.

That's how I like to practice my shortgame also, by playing a par-3 course. Recently I have been using a facility in Lancaster, MA. Very similar place, but the greens at the par-3 are quite a bit smaller (and of lesser quality), and the holes are longer. And they have bunkers. I remember some of the water and poisson ivy (), but I don't recall any sand at Kimbal Farm, Bunkerbound! (But it has been a while since I've been there.)

Hi Bunkerbound!

I can't believe I missed this! You're definitely a neighbor! I live in Worcester and mostly play closer to home but I do go out to Westford about once a month to play Butter Brook. Great new course!

Welcome!

At $75 on the weekends with a cart, Butter Brook is in line with its competition. It's a slightly better course than 'my' course, Kettle Brook, which charges $68. BB is not quite as nice as Shaker Hills who is charging $85. So, IMO, the $75 is just about right. With the cost of fuel this season, I am almost considering BB a treat as opposed to a regular stop. But if you're in Westford, you should be there every day!
