LPGA Tour Championship

This is also an inaugural event. A good idea I think. They will all be there for those who follow the ladies. Go Michelle... let's make it 2 in a row to wrap up the season.

Re: LPGA Tour Championship

Heard this morning that Michelle had to withdraw due to the bad ankle. My neighbor's nephew who is here playing in the Adamsgolf pro tour winter series went to the tournament yesterday and followed her group. He was impressed with how far she hits the ball.

I'm not surprised. She was limping noticably all day. She got it to -3 at one point playing basically on 1 leg... the only player playing in the afternoon wind anywhere near the leaders. She was not able to "post up on her left side" at all. Larry would understand. They said she probably wouldn't have played if it weren't such a big event and the last of the season.

It looks as if Lorena isn't going to give up POY without a fight. She has the lead through 2 and Shin is 4 back.

I read that Lorena feels much more relaxed now that the hosting duties of her tournament are over. Go Lorena!

I went out yesterday, and she was limping badly. I too was impressed with her distance off the tee. The girl can play.

Re: LPGA Tour Championship

It was really neat watching the women play. I was really impressed with accuracy off the tee in general, on a very windy day. Quite a few really struggled with getting up and down from some tough lies near the green.

Re: LPGA Tour Championship

They're still sitting on 1 round completed down there. They've already cut it to 54 holes with a Monday finish. Too bad to have their 1st Tour Championship and the season sort of fizzle out on a Monday... if they even get 54 holes in.

Yes, but I think our forecast was for a beautiful Saturday, too, as of Friday morning/early afternoon. You know how it is with weather forecasts...

Re: LPGA Tour Championship

Anna Nordqvist came charging out of the pack with a final round 65 to take the this inaugural and rain-shortened event by 2. Lorena clinched her 4th straight POY award by birdying that last for solo 2nd. Jayai Shin needed birdie there for a T5 which apparently would have been good enough to pass Lorena by whatever formula they use.

Congrats to Anna Nordqvist. In Sweden we are hoping she will become the next Annika.

Yes, this really turned a good season into a great one for Anna, adding the Tour Championship to The McDonalds and 3 other top 5s. She didn't miss a cut in 17 starts either.

Re: LPGA Tour Championship

I was watching this tournament, thinking all the while that Jiyai Shin as Player of the Year and future dominant force in women's golf has to be the LPGA Tour's biggest nightmare.

Unfair but probably true. They have several great players currently though. I don't see anyone dominating as "the face" of the tour.

Totally unfair, and you're right, I think there are a number of good young players emerging now, but her emerging as the dominant force in the women's game would likely be the end of the LPGA Tour.
