Anyone have the hook up for Ryder Cup tickets in '08?

I'd like to go but some of the prices for tickets I've overhead people talk about are ludacris.

For the hole week you're looking at around 3000 bucks?

For a day you're looking around 700?

Those are the numbers I've heard thrown around. If that's true I wont be going unless one of my GW2 buddies can hook me up?

I do not have an inside track for tickets, but I will be there helping out a friend that is a photographer for Reuters. Basically I will run media discs for him between home base, and where he is set up. He told me I will not run too much, and that we'll see alot of great golf! Plus I live down the street from Valhalla, it is literally 2 minutes away from me.

That is a serious amount of money, only corporates are dumb enough to pay that.True golf fans will get priced out ,leaving the event without atmosphere.

Yeah I live in Lexington, so I'm close and I definitely don't want to miss the Ryder Cup being that it's so close, but my wife really might kill me in my sleep if I spend 700 on one for a golf tournament.

I would be prepared to play in the 200 dollar range for a day or something like that, but the numbers I've heard (above) are crazy. And maybe I'm wrong about the prices (I HOPE) but I don't know.

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking. I mean if they are charging those prices they have to realize that your everyday golf fan will not be coming.

For sure the above prices include hotel accomodation right? or is it just entrance fee?

Nope, just the entrance fee.

Found this link: http://www.razorgator.com/tickets/sp...r-cup-tickets/

Again, don't know how much truth there is to it because from PGA's website it doesn't look like they've sent out ticketing info yet because it's all based on a random draw (which my name is entered into) but supposedly they will send everyone information in "early 2007" with ticket prices.

Going by that link, looks like I'll be just going to the first day practice round.

Well that's refreshing! I might actually get to go now. I guess my only chance is if my name is randomly drawn though as I'd say people selling tickets will try to get much more than that out of them.

I don't know really. I've never seen anything giving odds. I think you just put your name in the hat (which I've done) and then they send you an application, you fill it out, send it in and wait for the drawing.

I went to Brookline and am considering going to Valhalla. Will be at the Masters this year though.

If they do like the Masters, I can't help but if they do like Brookline, I went on Saturday and had to head back on Sunday morning so I went and got my ticket and gave it to a friend for what turned out to be one of the most amazing finishes ever...

I got a pair for the Wed. practice sessions at Oakland Hills this way the last time around. They claimed it was an 8-to-1 shot to get anything. You had to list a number of ticket options in order of preference. I got my 2nd to last choice. It's definitely worth a shot
