At least a dozen...so far this year, anyway. The CBS commercials for it never end...although I can't say I get tired of seeing them.

My favorite is the British Open, I like how different the courses are from those in the U.S. I think Links courses are so much more fun.

Re: What is your favorite Major?

1. Masters
2. U.S. Open
3. British Open
4. PGA

I love the Masters. It's a toss up for the US Open and the Open, if the Open is played at St. Andrews I would rather see that than any U.S. Open venue. I never seem to be able to watch the PGA.

Average World Golf Ranking of each major's champions from 1986 (when the World Ranking began) to 2006:

Masters 11.05
US Open 26.67
PGA Championship 38.48
British Open 41.76

-------------------------------
It IS an interesting stat, but there was an argument on the old GR about this. The Masters field is much smaller, and considered weaker, top to bottom. As a result, there are less players with a legitimate chance of winning it, vs. the other three majors. So, usually, you will have a more high profile player win the Masters.

Re: What is your favorite Major?

Masters by far. As far as viewing, I probably enjoy the Player's second most. I love the British as well.

I never cared for the US Open. I have enough skill to hack a wdge thirty yards up the fairway when I have only missed the fairway by two yards.

Masters, US Open, British, PGA. Masters because every year there is a great story told there. Jack in '86 (greatest moment in sports history), Ben winning one for his old coach, Arnolds final walk, and on and on. I've been there for a practice rd ('03) and would LOVE to go back again. Its simply beautiful, tv doesn't do it justice.

As there is no such tournament as the British Open , I found it impossible to vote.

Re: What is your favorite Major?

I voted for the Masters, just for the consistency it has in producing interesting finishes. I just associate it with exciting Sundays, even though it does have some cakewalks, and the other Majors also produce thrillers too.

For me, recently the US Open has become my next favourite, because I have enjoyed seeing the top pros get beat up by the course the way I do. I don't find the Open at St Andrews much of a spectacle these days, and Tiger took all the entertainment out of Hoylake for me.

I like the PGA Championship, but only a little bit more than the Players.

And I like the Ryder Cup more than any of these.

The Master's is the top of my list by far. Although I do enjoy the US Open as well. However, watching the US Open is like watching a NASCAR race for a non-racing fan...just waiting for the wrecks...

Re: What is your favorite Major?

The British Open (The OPEN) is my favourite. Played on courses that are tough and when the wind blows real tough. The fact that qualifying is world wide now adds to the value of this great and most historic tournament. It is a shame that the majority of 'second tier' Americans don't support this event because truelly it is the world championship of stroke play.

Who would you define as "second tier?" I only know of a few guys who've eschewed the Open in their careers, and none of them would have made a difference in the tournament anyway.

The Masters...besides the gorgeous setting, it is the fact that the same venue is used year in and out, it has become familiar despite the constant "improvements" and I enjoy watching the course with its quirky name as much as the golfers on it...

Re: What is your favorite Major?

The Masters. Being the first major and using the same beautiful course every year give the Masters an advantage. Besides, the weather is often still too cool or too wet up north for us to be playing much yet, and we are starved for golf and nice weather!

What we see during the Masters makes us drool in anticipation of the playing season beginning, a response that diminshes in intensity as the summer progresses. However, the Opens usually give us a chance to see the best players in the world struggling with the toughest venues in the world, and rarely disappoint.

Ben Curtis and Tod Hamilton would disagree.

NICE reply. Couldn't have said it better myself. Back nine on Sunday at Augusta-its magic, especially years like Jack in '86 and Ben's win for the old coach. Wow.

Re: What is your favorite Major?

I have always said that if I ever had the oppurtunity to definetly win a major it would be the british. Not only because of the history but moreover that it is truly an international tournament. European tour players have played in it where as there havent been many in the masters and the us open. Therefore, I think its the best major.

Re: What is your favorite Major?

Clearly the correct order is the US Open, the PGA, the Masters, and then the British.

The Masters is played every year on the same bomb and gouge course, which is why I rank it 3rd. I think links golf is horrible though so it still beats out the British.

I like the see different parkland style courses each year, ones that are high quality and challenging,
